Thread: Van Morrison at Caesars Palace

  1. #1
I just booked tickets for my wife and I for the Van Morrison concert at Caesars Palace in Oct. This man is a special one-of-a-kind talent. We saw him on his home turf in Belfast in the early '80's, and his song Moondance is what we've always called "our song" for certain reasons when we met in 1975. Yes kew, the guy is even older than me, so chances are you've never heard of him and prefer Justin Bieber anyway.

Tickets weren't cheap--almost $500 apiece with all the stupid fees etc. And I booked a small suite while we're there because our 44th anniversary is in Oct. also.

Here's a question: I noticed almost every CP restaurant is different today than when I used to occasionally frequent the place in the 2000's. Lots of faggy stuff that may or may not be good. Is there anything decent/special there now, or should I stick with the safety of the steakhouse?

Honestly Rob, even with all the shit pay tables, the BS they put players though and so forth, with 1 visit last July where I had an expected loss of less than $400 they are begging us to come back. Shocked you didn’t find a way to milk them for tickets and rooms.

There are still opportunities with them if you put enough through and plan to go back.

That said, congratulations on the anniversary and the trip. It’s nothing when you have the money you do to enjoy your retirement with.

Lots of over-priced, underwhelming, celebrity restaurants. Stick with Homestead.

I would stay at Venetian or Wynn. Eat at those places and just go to Caesars for the show.

Exactly what I was thinking. Thanks.

I was thinking that doing it all at one place might be favorable for my wife. But I just asked her if she'd rather stay at Venetian, eat one night there and one night at Homestead, and she gave me thumbs up. I appreciate the suggestion.

I don't play at CET properties any more. I might put in a small amount of play but maybe not. This is an anniversary visit and she doesn't much gamble so I won't be.

AI know is the higher the anniversary the older we get . We're shooting for at least our 75th.

If Max is giving Rob friendly advice and Rob being cordial back, the world is coming to and end!

It's not like I am supplying him a 36th floor suite and a bunch of resort credit.......lol

I just made a reasonable suggestion.

Caesars properties are trash now. Especially compared to Wynn, Venetian, and Cosmo. In that order as far as I'm concerned.

You can't even find a decent place to eat in a Caesars property anymore. It's as if they don't want to have anything desirable to use the reward credits on. Thus forcing you to trade at 1/2 value for free play.

Van Morrison? I thought that junkie died like 45-50 years ago.

Believe it or not Bugsys and Meyers is a decent steakhouse at Flamingo, at least for Caesars standards. Unlike the surge of celebrity places they opened, this is an old school type place with quality steaks and sides. And the prices aren’t horrible for Vegas standards and is a great place to use comps as Max said.

It’s not STK in my mind, but I’ve never left disappointed. Rob, you should check out the menu and give it a shot. Definitely better than the options at CP.

I would second Meyers, too. There was a time when the $100 Diamond Dinner could feed two people.

We enjoy eating at The Steakhouse at Circus Circus when in sin city due to its atmorsphere, food and service.

Rob, you might want to reconsider your dining plans.

Instead of steak you could dine at In 'n Out, and use the savings to increase your gambling bankroll; after all, VP is a negative expectation game, and you can never have too much money to throw into the maw of a casino.

    No shame there.

Unrelated but 3 Video Poker Progressives are up high enough to put the games over 100% return downtown.

Dollar 17/7/5 Joker Poker at 4 Queens Bar is up around 7000
Half Dollar Bonus Poker at the Cal is around 3400
Quarter Bonus Poker at the Upstairs D Bar is over 1350
