Thread: Las Vegas Bowling

  1. #1
    Pictures to come later.
Went bowling to blow off some steam and buy some new gear.
    Spent about 675 + 25 for 7 games = 700 dollar loss.
Bought 3 new balls to try and upgrade to high performance.
First time I ever had a spare ball.
    That shit is amazing!
The other two are a Dark Code and Wine Colored Hustle Ball.
The Dark Code hooks slightly more.
Both balls are a Mother Fucker to get used to lol.
I'd bowl 3 or 4 strikes in a row and after that I'd be all over the place.
Tough day as I never broke 165.
Felt good pounding That Dirty Stinking Rat Boz down the lane every time.
I also bought a 165 dollar bag that holds 3 balls.
First time I got this serious about bowling.
I couldn't believe the prices on bags.
    Insane!
    4 Ball Bag was almost 300 buckeroo's!
I decided to work my way up later to that monster.
    All in all good fun.
Hope to get some bowling discussion going in this thread.

Sounds like something I would buy and then it would wind up on a shelf in the garage next to all the other stuff I thought was a good idea at the time.

Now if I decide to take up a new hobby I make myself wait a month. Amazingly I hardly ever start.
FraudJ's word is worth less than the prop cash in Singer's safe...RIP

    Funny you should say that.
I told the guy who I was buying all the stuff from, "this shit will probably end up in my back closet and I will never use it again lol."
Our minds think the same in many situations.
My case in point is that I haven't gone out shooting for 1 or 2 years now.
At least those items do not depreciate in value and they usually increase.
And I can trade guns and ammo if it ever comes to that.
Nobody trading me for some bowling orbs.

Never a bad time to buy a firearm. I bought a semi auto shotgun the other day. I was at the gun shop with a friend. I don't even know what I bought....lol

It will probably sit in the box in a closet for years before I take it out. If I ever do. But hey, it was no sales tax promo and on sale. How am I supposed to go in these places and not buy shit?..

    Good Story!
Yeah I do the same thing.
Buy shit and forget about it lol.
You know your rolling when your buying shit and not touching it for a year or two.
Remember, I have a 4000 dollar Wall Tent, Oven, Polls and all the accessories that haven't even been opened in the back of one of my deep closets lol.
I did take the oven out to cure it once but still.

Now this is one of the balls that I just bought.
    Dark Code!
    Fucking Awesome.
Might buy another one before they run out or are discontinued.
Actually, I just shaved my face and head this morning so I can relate to this guy in the video.
Fuckers at the Barber Shop are now charging 60 dollars for a Straight Razor Shave.
And that's just for your beard!
Who do they think they are?
    Fuck Them!

    Hey... not nice!
Who rated this only a 1 star thread.
This thread is at least worthy of 2 stars!

All the bowling centers in Vegas have changed their hours.
I can't find one bowling alley that is 24 hours anymore which kind of sucks.
Around the pandemic everyone changed their hours.
No more 24 hour Albertsons or Walmart nearby my area.
At least a couple pool halls are still 24 hours in the city.
I went out last night and had a massage which is always nice and I played about 4 hours of pool by myself.
I ran into a guy who was is an x military weapons specialist or maybe its sargent.
Hell of a discussion and a ton of useful information.
So now I might have someone to show me how to actually shoot these rifles.
And I got the itch to buy a pool cue or two and mess around with playing pool.
Seems perfect to go along with bowling and I could use some tournament action in both sports to have some fun.

    Bowling?

    Pshaw.

Real men play ladder ball, aka ladder golf.

My buddy and I have played that game for about eight years now in my back yard; we've gotten quite good at it and have a great time getting wasted on good cannabis and playing the game.

It might not be a good fit for Las Vegas as we play on green grass while experiencing moderate temperatures.

It's a great game, very competitive, ripe for betting (we don't: he's broke from pissing away his inheritance at the roultette tables), and easy to store and set up.

    see:

    Try it, you'll like it.

Quick story about pool. I grew up in seedy pool halls as my dad was a pool player. Actually, he preferred billiards to pocket pool. He played with Mosconi and Fats and those guys. I did get to meet Fats. Anyway, I was an OK player but nothing special. Just around it all my life. Pinball was more my thing. We were also the only white people in most of those pool halls and the standard music blasting was the Temptations and the 4 Tops.

So years later I am in the basement of my college dorm playing pool by myself and this big tough looking guy comes in and is watching me. he says you want to play for $$. I say no, I'm just killing time. Finally he says let's play for $200--all you have to do is make 1 ball. I said ok--but hold on I'll be back in 10 minutes. I run up to my room and grab my pool Cue, talc, etc. and come back down. The look on his face changes as he watches me screwing together my cue.

I have one shot that I can make maybe 2 of 10 times where on the break I bank the right corner ball all the way back down. I call that shot, actually make it, and say to the guy "that's game". I figure rather than getting paid the $200 I'm more likely to get my ass kicked. But after a stare down, he throws the $200 on the table and leaves.

    Thanks for sharing this story!
Nice to see you and the Ditz come out of your shells and provide good entertainment and useful information.

I like how you gave him The Hustler Needle... 125 GAME or THAT's GAME!!

    Story Time Pikachus!
Went out last night to do some bowling.
    Place was jammed packed.
No lanes open but an older guy from California was bowling by himself.
I asked him if I could bowl with him and I would pay for all the games, drinks and food.
He refused the drinks and food and paid for his own games but let me bowl with him.
We had a great conversation and he gave me a bunch of help/tips.
    Lot of Fun... Lots!
He bowled 4 games with me and left and I had the lane to myself.
I bowled some more and it got slower so I was able to move to some other lanes to get alternating lanes.
I still had some issues with the two new orbs but I was able to bowl 4 games over 200 and I bowled a total of 14 games lol... I'm an addict, so you know.
I'm starting to get the hang of the dark code how it hooks more aggressive compared to the Wine Colored Hustle.
The spare ball is amazing and the best value for 60 bucks.
Fucking thing makes picking up the 7 or 10 a breeze.
Literally the best investment a bowler can make IMO.

So I had about 14k on me but wasn't really planning on playing.
I thought I might stop off afterwards but I was kind of tired.
I pushed through the tiredness and got stuck 4 dimes on spin poker.
Decided to give up and go to another Casino.
Walked in and in about ten minutes hit a 10 dollar Royal for 40k.
Losing in Sports but that's ok lol lol lol.
When tableplay tells me to put my money to work for me... I listen!
And we finish with the usual 100 dollar comp and a bunch of to go food.
Early morning crash the SportsBook and drop a couple dimes on some games.
    Too tired to post anymore.
    Sleepy Time.
    See You Soon!
P.S. Notice the CENTER OF THE UNIVERSE HOLD below... love that hold... OJ10 Suuuuited!

Way to fill it up Monet, you put those five 10 dollar bills to work. Even in Vegas 4-4 BDW is all but extinct I guess but 4-3 BDW with comps and food works too (well probably not extinct if it's without the nice comps you get for 4-3 I suppose). For those on the fence about VP, see what five 10 dollar bills can do for you ?

FYI... plenty of 4-4 too but I have really run horrible on the game oddly enough.
    You find it on Spin.
Not so much on Single Line.
    I can't explain it.
    Just Goofy Shit.
The thing is the 4-3 gives me more payback on the backside.
    You probably already know that.
It is sickening how good I have ran on the 4-3.
I literally hit 6 Royals inside of 12 sessions when I first started.
Tough for them to catch me from that.
I had one day where I hit six 5 Balls of Aces.
I hit a few sets of deuces and was up 20k on the 5 dollar machine without hitting a Royal.
I also changed to 25 dollar 9/7 Double Bonus and Immediately hit 4 Deuces with an A.
At least it still paid 10 grand but Fuck that sort of hurt mentally lol.
I did that once on 10 dollar as well lol.
Twice I have had sessions on the 4-3 and made 5 sets of 4 aces inside of 3 hours.
That's when you are pissed off you aren't playing the better payback Double Bonus which is what you should do just because of the .2 differential but you know me... I like to gamble.

    But enough of that Bullshit.
You skipped over the fact that I bowled 14 games in a row lol!
    That's insane!
Shoulders and Back a little sore today but not as bad as I thought it would be.
Middle Finger cut a bit near the nail from the constant use of the ball hole.
That sounds like a little something the kewlJ would know about.

Yes 14 games is a workout and 200+ on four games means that you are a very good bowler. With the massive hits and the big comps, there's no reason not to play it. I play it everyday (with an infinitely shittier pay table) simply because it is on the UX machines that I go through all the time - so even with a 10 hand UX game with just one 2x next hand multiplier I still get an almost 7% edge on that 5-coin by 10-hand bet and the dog shit paytable.

14 games...way to work yourself back into bowling shape.

My lead knee hurts more after bowling than shoulder or back.

Also middle finger takes a beating.

I've never used a finger tip ball, and am interested in the two-handed Belmo style.

Both look to be reduce wear and tear.

Did you go old school, with fingers buried deep?

No, I am tall and sort of lenky with long forearms.
When I was twelve I couldn't hook a ball when using my thumb.
My dad said that maybe I should try just two fingers and I didn't understand.
He said you probably can rest the ball on your arm and spin it.
I caught on real quick with this unorthodox style.
This was way before this two finger craze caught on.
I don't know how to do it with two hands.
But it works for me the way I do it.
I've been self taught on most things I do.
This was just another prime example of me teaching myself and doing things against the fundamental approach.
Which is very odd because I believe in the Traditional and the Fundamental Approach in everything.
When I played third base I used to throw side arm to first.
Drove my coaches crazy but I could throw the ball harder, faster and straighter that way.
Bringing it back to the ear felt awkward for me.

Anyways, I found out that these days its illegal if you have a thumb hole and don't use it in some way.
So when I bought these 3 new balls I only got the two holes drilled for the fingers.
So the way I hold the ball I put a bit more grip or pressure on my middle finger.
I realize today that I probably over did it and shouldn't bowl so much in one session or even week.
Just having way to much fun learning these high performance balls and the bowling alley is nothing but happy people having fun.
Seriously not one unhappy person in the whole place no matter how good or bad they bowl.
    Feels Good Man.

I still struggle with some control because of the grip and control you get with your thumb but its just my style.
I also shoot pool with an open bridge.
Always been that way and I'm positive that it costs me accuracy and control.
But I got to do me.

Unfortunately those aren't volume plays - just one and done and then you have to go through the rest of the screens on the machine to find the next one and done or the next machine's screens as the case may be.

I figured this much but over x amount of time they become Volume Plays.

And let me tell you all another thing.
There are guys like David Simms.
And then there are guys like Tin Cup.
And if David does nothing but make pars all day, Tin Cup will own his ass.

Rider her till she bucks or don't ride at all!
