Would that be because his dad was an attorney for the bent noses?

Or maybe because Alan was buddies with that CIA contract killer who often blesses us with his pearls of wisdom?

Hey Alan, are you kin to the family that ran the Jewish deli in Beverly Hills?

I ask because when I tried to learn a bit more about your dad and him being a mob attorney I came across this...don't know if it is him or not, but if so gambling runs in the family, as does an affinity for Jewish deli delights.

The Lefty - Spilatro Era was sloppy at the end.
Alan probably knows as much or more than me.

I was in Las Vegas when Rosenthal's car was bombed, by the way. I guess one could make a case for some slop at the end.

I talked to a couple of people about it, and this kind of burial really breaks some basic rules. I have a friend, a young filmmaker who specializes in knowing everything there is to know about La Cosa films. But he is more of an East Coast guy. I'll quiz him when I get a chance. I think he's in Boston right now, working on the The Art Thief, which I assume is an adaptation of the book.
How about you stop with the nonsense. It's disturbing even for you. "I know a guy"..."I have a friend who's involved"..."they're both super hi-level people who are capable of giving me the scoop on things". You talk the same smack every time a new issue arises. And for God's sake, what's with you trying to impress with references to the mob, like you have any ties to Sicilians or Italians.

Just to help out---It's La Cosa NOSTRA

Yes, my father was a mob lawyer. Yes, my closest relatives had very tight mob connections. Yes, when a first cousin couldn't pay his bookie on sports bets my Aunt called a top boss and said "I'll pay but dont ever take another bet from my son again." Yes, I grew up knowing killers and saw people go to prison and come out of prison. Yes, I have a very close friend in prison for life for pleading guilty to two murders to avoid the death penalty. Yes, I know people today who I would help and would help me. Yes, my father got families into witness protection programs. Yes, we were threatened and had to hide out during gang wars.

You think DO has a book going? It's kid stuff.

Okay one more... my Dad was once locked up. I think every Mob lawyer spends a day in jail. LOL

And once... maybe more than once... I made some payoffs as a runner. I was in college.

    Now you've done it Alan.

Now we might find out how redietz gave Mario Lanza voice coaching, or that he was on-set during the filming of The Godfather, teaching Marlon Brando how to simmer a tasty minestrone soup topped with parmesan reggiano or throw together a good pasta al forno.

I love soup and that soup sounds really, really good.
I have a couple containers of minestrone but its nothing in comparison.

I didn't claim to have ties. I just spoke with some people who might be considered to know a little bit. Now, if you really wanted to ask about my friend who's a La Cosa expert with a heavy lean to the East Coast, all you had to do was ask. I have a very tiny but credited part in a movie he shot while still a student. I'm "Saul the Jew." In fact, about two months ago, I shot an improv scene for him with three of us discussing the virus for a movie he's working on. And I'm still "Saul the Jew." I make a fine "Saul the Jew."

Anyway, my friend's name is Dennison, and he really knows East Coast relationships and history intimately, but he could probably use some back-up on the West Coast history. Alan, is there any chance he could use you as a resource some time down the road? I'm sure he'd be interested in Zooming. At some point, I will be giving him a Las Vegas tour with an eye to La Cosa history, and you undoubtedly know more than me, so you might be a great resource.

And Alan, as far as making payoffs as a runner -- well, I was asked by a couple of southern writers who've had collections of short stories published if I could do a story about an automobile and coming-of-age. At first I said I had no story like that, but then one of them said he had seen a photo of me as a kid standing in front of a Lincoln with a bunch of other "youths" (as they say in My Cousin Vinny). And I said, yeah, I guess I do have a coming-of-age story about a car. So my story was accepted and edited, and now I'm waiting to hear on the publishing date for the book. Anyway, what you said about what you did in college. I was a freshman, I think.

A lesson in Italian/Sicilian history and etiquette seems to still be in order here: no one with a knowledge of Italian history refers to the Cosa Nostra as "La Cosa", which simply means "the thing".

Let's see a link to that "Saul the Jew" part. Oh wait!....it's another of those claims that just don't show up on the internet because they're either too old, or you have to be a secret member to get access.

If you told us that most of your "acquaintances" wore medium brown loafers without socks, that's something that could be believed.

I get that. The topic is a serious one. Dennison takes it absolutely seriously. It's not some cocktail party lingo to him. It's his expertise and his passion.

I try to stay relatively uninformed. It's the best medicine. For example, there were competing factions in Las Vegas. I know nothing about it after Lefty Rosenthal "retired," and don't want to know anything about it. I have studiously avoided anything but pre-1985 historical knowledge.

LOL. If you want to bet on that "Saul the Jew" part, be my guest.

This is what I love about you, Rob.Singer. You know damn well I'm telling the truth, so you won't actually commit to calling me an out and out liar or making a bet. Instead, you hem and haw and talk about links and such like some spineless old politician. At least have the cajones to make a wager.

You should enjoy a long and happy life.

But I've got to laugh about one thing... when I went to the Mob Museum and saw their photo displays... some of those pictures looked like my father's pinnacle games on Sundays by the pool. LOL

This all reminds me of a time when I was a kid and my mom was selling an old couch. The guy coming to buy the couch was a mob hit man. My dad knew him and others like him from the pool halls. But mom was having a fit that this hit man was coming to the house. She insisted all the kids stay in their rooms. We all said he’ll no we want to see this guy. And of course we had all our friends come over. In our minds he would be this huge monster. In walks a skinny stooped over polish guy. What a disappointment.

It's too bad the guys from my first TV news job in Syracuse, New York in 1973 are no longer alive. That was a group that was really into the mob and crime and political corruption. Even the Mayor of Syracuse went to prison. City council members were using the Dept of Public Works for personal property, people were found dead with multiple gunshots to the head and they were called "suicides." And the list goes on. What a great first TV job.

Wager on what? That I had and sold the Newell? I have all the documentation. There's no way you'd touch that because you're an internet coward who thrives on claims that have zero evidence. If you were a screaming success like the one you want everyone to believe you are, you'd NEVER be wasting time trying so hard to convince a bunch of meaningless, obscure self-annointed gamblers on a scarcely viewed forum that you are the bomb of sports handicapping.

You're here for the professional trolling, and nothing more.

Your "documentation" was fake as fuck!!!

A second body was just discovered in Lake Mead.

I guess in the desert it still holds true that they "sleep with the fishes."

I found a body floating in Lake mead many years ago. I called the authorities and it took them about three and a half hours to show up.
