I saw this tweet about a guy who built his own little rail riding vehicle in southern California, and I thought of Rail Explorers near Vegas...

You can essentially pay for a better version of this guy's vehicle, and take a "90 minute tour" of the rails near Hoover Dam in Boulder City. They have various "tours" you can do, though they're all fairly similar:

Of all of these listed, I'd probably like the Sunset Tour, though I wouldn't want to do it in the summer when it's 110 degrees. Even without the sun, and even with the wind created by the moving vehicle, that would still be awful.

It's not cheap, however. One or two people are $90 (same price) and sit together in a 2-person vehicle. Three or four people are $160, and sit together in a 4-person vehicle. It moves itself with an engine, even though there are pedals on the vehicles. You get 10% off with a Nevada ID.

It doesn't look all that exciting, though. You're going just 4.5 miles, and you're right along the freeway. I'd much rather do this in the remote desert, where the scene is more peaceful and nature-like.

Anyone tried this? Is there any better version of this somewhere, which I'm unaware of?
