As far as comps and ratings go, you missed out on the heyday of sports betting. At one time, race and sports were comped the same, and a little went a long way. If you bet $500 at Circus-Circus, you had $5 in comps. Now it's a buck, if you're lucky. Plus you could get lunches and stuff as discretionary comps. You just had to ask and have them semi-familiar with your face.

When the Palms opened, I was top rated because of my sports play, only I didn't know it. I could have gone into the clubs comped for about three years, but I never even asked what the perks were. I was just happy to get the comps for the bets. I still haven't been in their clubs. Now I'd have to pay for them.

Singer did get one good thing out of all this..

I have read in several post the "Singer 9.5".

The Singer 9.5 may be used at the expense of another forum member.

At this point, I'm sure any positive attention he will run with it.

Good analysis of Rob Singer, narcissistic forum troll.

Gee, sort of reminds me of someone else, you know, the guy who keeps braying about a "stolen election."

    Obviously I did not.
The problem for me was when you started in with you are going to start handicapping early this year.
That made me only concentrate on Football.
I thought maybe the Red comment might be something to do with Cincinnati since you had it in all caps.
I figured it had to be a Future because that is what you do.
The first thing I looked at was the USFL but couldn't find lines that were online.
I didn't try very hard to find this pick because I'm not really into betting on something that I have to wait 8 months to cash in on.
So I went into the NCAAF and NFL Future Lines and couldn't find anything that matched the -1000 or +1000 category.
And I overlooked the divisional aspect.
I spent maybe 7 minutes on the whole ordeal before I just gave up on it.
Because I don't like being led around like some dumb animal.
Fun for you, yes and I get it.
But if you want to share a pick I feel like you should just be direct.
I'm a very direct person for the most part and I appreciate straight forwardness.
But I knew you were being nice so I played along for a little bit till I finally cracked and just gave up.
Thanks for the information and opening up in a positive social manner.

The first is "to humiliate." Not sure how someone else claiming they won money, being exposed as a liar, and placing pics of fake cash online humiliates me, but okay. Better me than them, I guess.

Then 2-A is to dupe or deceive. Well, if nobody is actually deceived, not sure how they were punked, but okay, let's continue.

We come to 2-B, which is to play a practical joke on. Again, a practical joke requires, at some point, for someone to be fooled somehow. If nobody's fooled, not much punking happening.

So I guess when the definitions are exhausted, we come to the idea that somebody is punking if they post something nobody believes, but they believe other people believe, so in essence they are punking themselves. I guess that's a possibility. Another possibility is if somebody claims to not disbelieve something, but they disbelieve it, but they think everyone else thinks they believe it, when everyone else actually just thinks they're lying, well, that person is -- once again -- punking themselves.

Oh, what a tangled punking we weave, when we think we've affected what others believe, but the only belief that's off the wall, is the belief that somehow we've punked them all.
You got punked. It's not about what you believe. It's about the increased activity on the forum it causes you to do. It's about Singer getting in your head. It's about you spending your every waking hour thinking about Singer.

    YOU GOT PUNKED.

Maybe I just dont remember Mickey's version of an announced retirement.

Singer will continue to make the claim regardless of there being a mountain of evidence showing the claims to be false.

I believe his Desire to be a successful winning AP is so strong that he has to make up these stories to not just fit in, but tell stories that surpass all claims made by other forum members.

I look at Singers claims similar to creeps that impersonate police officers. They make claims of being an officer, they may buy a retired crown Vic or outfit a new one with lights and sirens, carry police equipment, badge, ID, ect. Some impersonators even go as far as making traffic stops. They want to be a police officer so bad, but for whatever reason they can't. Maybe it's their criminal record, Background test ect. Many will even tell real police officers they are a cop. They want OTHERS TO BELIEVE IT so bad. I think alot has to do with a narcissistic personality.

This is similar to what Singer has, but his facination is with AP gambling not Police. Fortunately for Singer his disease doesn't involve an illegal fascination as impersonating a police officer would. Luckily for him his illness creates a facination that is legal in the eyes of the law, however fucked up it may be.

Much of Singers satisfaction comes from having people believe his stories. I think as long as there are a couple people that he thinks believe him, he will continue with the story, regardless how rediculous it is.

There is a reason why he only post here.

Imagine if Singer would post his story on another forum:

"The casino allowed my special request on VP, but I had to play in an office. I won $1.5 million."

    He wouldn't get any responses.

Honestly, I find Singer similar to Christopher Mitchell, with the exception Singer doesn't try to scam for money. I find them both entertaining since they both actually believe people find their stories truthfull.

In reality everyone knows the claims are false, with the exception of a couple people that say "it's possible". Yeah, anything is POSSIBLE!

People like Singer don't get embarrassed easy, or possibly not at all. They get caught in a blatant lie, but will still continue to push that lie as well as create new ones.
PV, don't fall into the same trap of being obsessed with Singer as the Brokebacks.

Fueled by jealous of Bob Dancer, Singer attempted to become a video poker AP in the 1990's and failed. In a 4 year span doing the things that every other VP AP do and make money at, Singer lost several hundred thousand dollars. THIS was the only thing he has ever been honest about.

Now let's just examine this for a moment. It is pretty damn hard to fail as a VP AP, unless you are a complete moron or degenerate gambler. Even I who am not the smartest guy, have enjoyed almost a decade of success playing VP the "mailer game". And when Singer tried the mailers were even better. For that angle, the mailer game, all that is necessary is the discipline to play only the coin in needed to generate the mailer offers that make the whole play positive EV. The only way a player can fail is if he is a degenerate gambler that can't adhere to that discipline needed, and just continues to gamble away all the profits and all. Singer failed because he IS a degenerate gambler.

From that point on, unable to be the AP that he had dreamed of, it was one claim after another, all defying math. Every claim was an alternative universe of claims that couldn't be by the math. And anyone who challenged those claims based on the math, was attacked and belittled, because that is the only way he could answer.

One after another, all debunked, until he finally stole "the double up bug claim" that had been in the news a few years earlier. This one couldn't be debunked because of the math. But it was pretty evident to almost everyone that he stole this claim and did not play it or make any real money.

Each time that there is almost no one left that believed his claims he would escalate with a new bigger claim and the process of challenging and attacks and name calling would repeat. And each time when finally debunked and the truth came out, he looked more and more pathetic, until present day.
How do you know Rob was telling the truth about losing hundreds of thousands in the nineties? What evidence do you have. Or are you making shit up again? Yes....you are.
I actually have come to like Rob, he is a fun and entertaining guy.

However, I do find it disappointing that unless it's blatantly obvious we can't separate the facts from fiction going all the way back.

Also, if we are to believe even part of what Alan claims regarding what went down between him and Alan, l don't like that at all. If I'm someone's friend, I'm their friend till the end, or they give me a good reason not to be. You don't jack around friends, and you have their back.

Also, If you say you're going to meet someone somewhere, you need to follow through with it. It's one thing yanking some chains, but one needs to know where to draw the line.
Rob and I called a truce a couple of years ago. The Brokebacks have been trying to shame me into going back on my word ever since. I've taken a ton more heat off them, they've ganged up on me, than I ever took off Rob (just one person). But they can't force me to go back on my word. I'm the mean motherfucker that can take the heat and dish it back.

maxmidget, tewlj and the ditz are haters. Hatred is a very destructive emotion. Their hatred of Singer is eating them alive. Their propensity for hate says a lot about them. They will attack anyone and everyone that gets in the way of their love of hate.

You guys think all the nasty things you've said about Singer in the past few years don't count. WTF? You guys are worse than Singer because you gang up on one guy.

Todd should ban maxipuke, tewlj and the ditz once and for all. They are nothing but pure ass trolls that add nothing of value to the forum.

If Singer never returns the hot topic on VCT will always be Singer as long as the Brokebacks are here. They are obsessed with him They are obsessed beyond belief.
We only have 7 members as it is.
And you are being biased as your Rat Buddy Bosworth should be banned for Ratting and telling everyone on the forum that he was going to Rat.
I understand he was trying to protect his investment.

I've been asked to clean up my language when referring to the LGBTQ community on VCT. I've agreed to certain terms....

I will no longer refer to our gay members, maxie, tewlj, the ditz, and keystoner as homosexuals. The term "homosexual" has problems of specification. It perpetuates negative stereotypes. So, maxie, tewlj, ditz and keystoner, I will no longer call you homos. From now on I will use the designation you prefer, gay. As in Gay Maxie, Gay Tewlj, Gay Ditz, and Gay Keystoner.

Also, I will not refer to maxie, who is a well respected drag queen, as "tranny max."

And I also promise not to make fun of the gay sex between the four of you. Buggary has it's place I guess.

Well....maybe just a joke or two. All in good fun.

Aging is tough. I train hard, every year, just to keep my neurons working. And to provide some kind of physical stamina so I can put them to good sustained use. It's physically hard. Psychologically difficult. Because each year, you lose stamina, you lose neurons, and it requires more discipline to apply your mind as well as you did the year before.

If I couldn't physically train, my mind would likely go to hell.

    God bless the aged.

    Cliff Notes:

Quick summary from my perspective. I joined when Alan ran the forum as Best Buys. The Las Vegas section was about the experiences that Alan and others had in terms of types of play and comps and what you had to do to get what ratings where. People would talk about restaurant experiences and slot club experiences, that kind of thing. I found it useful, as sports betting comps had dried up from really useful discretionary comps and a buck for every $100 to $200 wagered down to no discretionary comps and a buck for every $400 to $600 wagered. So I got to check out other comp options and comp rates and all that, and what Alan had to do to get what. The forum was useful and relatively respectful.

Rob, who had a weekly Gaming Today column where he was quite often featured on the front page, was reasonably respected as knowing Las Vegas pretty well, even if he didn't quite have an optimal handle on how to play video poker. In fact, an issue of GT quite often featured Rob opining on his various systems while another columnist would discuss optimal video poker advantage play in the same issue.

Alan did some videos that can be found on YouTube where he interviewed Singer explaining his systems. A poster named Arci went head to head here versus Singer's systems claims. At one point, Rob was supposed to send his taxes to Alan to prove his claims of winning, and Arci was also. Arci, who played modest amounts part time, sent his taxes, which verified his winning claims. Rob reneged.

Personally, I went 2500 posts without mentioning that I was a sports handicapper until one day Rob decided to wax eloquent about how to bet sports and was so wrong, I felt I should pull rank and speak up.

Eventually, Alan sold the forum to Todd (Dan). Rob, Alan, and I pre-date all of the others here. We're the three guys who used our real names (everyone knows Rob Singer is Rob Argentino, as he stated it in his GT column more than once), and we're three of the oldest posters.
    Interesting, Thank you!

Ps: I did see the Alan/Singer interview. The math defying stuff as well lol
Alan/Singer interview was non stop laughs. That gem should have over 100k views !

PV you shouldn't compare Rob with the ultimate scamming lowlife scum, Chrissy Kyle Prescott. Singer is a comedic jackass slug, Chrissy is a charlatan who deserves his clock cleaned !

That is just your opinion, Ozzy. I believe Singer did try to scam people on the same level as Mitchell/Prescott and the blackjack army guy. When Singer began his scam, it was a different time. There was no Youtube, or if there was it wasn't like today a platform for scamming large numbers of people. Back then the way to reach people were forums and books. Singer used both, plus a column in a gambling paper. Who knows how many people he reached.

I also don't hold the distinction that many do that a scammer must make a lot of money from the scam. Anyone that believed Singer's BS about progression wagering which he pushed for more than a decade, before he stole the double up bug claim, and lost money trying to emulate that BS, isn't going to see a distinction.

So the only reason Singer didn't make a lot of money on top, is because like everything else, he failed at that too. The single most telling thing about this is the books. He published books, (at a cost to himself) with this misleading garbage in them. That is intent, right there.

Now, it is true that in the later years, the last 4 or 5 years, about the time frame that Singer stole the double-up bug claim, all hope of making money off this BS was gone for him. During these final years, it has just been a narcistic exercise of building himself up into something he is not, while trying to tear down anyone that challenged his phony claims, which were mainly players that had achieved different levels of success.
Dan Druff: "there's no question that MDawg has been an obnoxious braggart, and has rubbed a ton of people the wrong way. There's something missing from his stories. Either they're fabricated, grossly exaggerated, or largely incomplete".
