Yes, it is fine to think evil thoughts so long as you keep them to yourself, but when you post your evil thoughts you can sometimes run afoul of the law.
One clear example: I suspect the FBI or Secret Service would pay me a visit if I posted that I was thinking about harming the leader of this fair land.
I'm not thinking about doing it, of course, I am just using that as an example.
MrV, I appreciate your legal opinion, but I think you might be wrong on this one. You cited an example of a specific situation where that is written into law. But for an ordinary person, someone saying
"I would like to punch him in the mouth, or even shoot him, but I am not going to because it is against the law and more trouble than it" is worth is not a crime. And using past tense,
"I considered this or that" distances it even further.
Like I said, if thinking bad thoughts is a crime, or more specifically having thought a bad though and decided against it, then we need a lot more prison space.
But Jeff can do as he likes. Let him contact whomever he wants. My guess is he is afraid to get near anyone in law enforcement for fear they will look more closely at him, for all his illegal scams.
