You're the first to ask that, just as I did when we heard about it. It's one of those realistic looking electric jobs with "flames", logs, crackling, and a good amount of heat. The flame's brightness can be adjusted, as can the fan speed that dispersed the heat. It has a real purpose other than for upscale looks: there's two furnaces (we opted for those over heat pump AC's because they deliver far more heat faster and work at lower temps) and the fireplace keeps the living area around the main tv comfortable without turning the heat on.
