Jbjb,
I wonder how many card counters are taking advantage of the symmetry/asymmetry still found on the edge of some playing cards. This could enable a few side counts based on the symmetry of that printed edge. Of course, they would need to set very close to the shoe and have some great eyes.
I beat roulette straight up without a rebate. I would sit in a chair with my knees under the table next to a beautiful young black lady. I would have her jack me to full alert underneath the table and my throbbing rock Hard cock would hit the bottom of the table causing a slight lean to the wheel. I then would proceed to bet the biased quadrants. I estimate my Edge to be about 7 percent

You think you are a professional roulette player?
Think Again... 6:40 In the video.
Bet on Red or Black?
Red Pill or Blue Pill??
Fuck That!
Give me Red Button Green Button!
Personally, I am in big trouble as I am not adhering to number 4 as I am too comfortable.
What have we learned here?
If you want to be a professional roulette player you need a coach.
Or just cheat and don't get caught.
Of course cheaters never win... right?
Why?
Because when you cheat, you only cheat yourself.
AmIrite or AmIrite... right, right?

My guess is there were people that could beat the game back then. And Thorp messed up their gravy train. It was all single deck dealing to the last card. The odds shifting when the ratio of big cards to small cards is above normal is not that hard of a concept to grasp. There had to have been people that knew that and exploited it.
And you could Wong all you wanted to in those days.
"More importantly, mickey thought 8-4 was two games over .500. Argued about it. C'mon, man. Nothing can top that for math expertise. If GWAE ever has you on again, you can be sure I'll be calling in with that gem.'Nuff said." REDIETZ
I can't remember where I read this but you are correct that people were doing it before Thorp.
I wonder if the casinos had some suspicion that BJ was beatable in this way because there are also a lot of stories of dealers that would be called in by the house to cheat against winning players.
Of course that could just because the casinos were greedy and knew they could get away with it, but maybe they saw it as a crude countermeasure against players that seemed to have winning system?

There are probably some blackjack APs from the 50s and 60s that are getting dredged up out of Lake Mead now that it is so low.
