Former member Moses aka Tater has passed away

KJ, just curious, how did you ever find out Moses real name? Did you have private correspondence with him towards the end?

MWP, i don't know how much you know of the situation, since I don't see you post much here, but Moses was suspended from this forum for repeatedly threatening me, including numerous threats to find me take a picture and distribute that info to casinos. 3 months later someone showed up at my building asking for me and when they told him they couldn't give any info, he later tried to get past security when there was a group of people. Security saw him, and chased him and he ran out of the building. Security then filed a report with metro (Las Vegas Police), which I guess they are required to do.

So far this has nothing to do with me, other than the person asked for info about me. I wasn't home and didn't file the report. So 2 days later I got a call from Metro asking if I could come in and look at pictures. The pictures weren't great, from security camera's but from both the pictures and the name provided, Kevin Keen, I did not know the person. But when they gave his address as mountain edge road, Reno, I suspected it was Moses. I have no idea how they came up with that info, but I wrote the name and address down in case there were any future incidents.

So late last year, Moses announced he was quitting blackjack play. He had some bizarre story about me ratting him out, to casinos, which I would never do to a fellow AP, even if he wasn't the level he claimed. Ironically is the very thing he repeatedly threaten me with. At that time when he announced he was quitting BJ play, he also announced his name and address for some strange reason I never understood, and it matched the info that I had been given by the police.

Looking back one has to wonder if Moses was already sick at the time or had been diagnosed and that is what his quitting blackjack was really about. Not really important I guess, but just makes you wonder.

I never encountered that before this forum and GF. It used to be that someone would say something that didn't match my own experiences or "ring true to me", I might question some aspect of what they said and it was an opportunity to further discuss, clear up any thing you might have misunderstood, or that the person didn't explain well. A chance for both parties just to clarify and be on the same page, so there is no misunderstanding. And you might even learn something. Other people's experiences can be different than mine, and you can learn from them.

But on this forum, starting with Rob Singer, and carrying forward to others, including Mdawg at WoV, here (briefly) and GF, if you raise any sort of question or express that hasn't been your experience and they go berserk, attacking you, calling you names, attacking your family. Anything and everything they can find to attack and belittle.

I have never dealt with that well. I guess I just don't understand the mentality. First I really have never understood the people like Singer, Mdawg that make up crap, that everyone knows is not true. I simply can't relate to whatever is missing from their life to need to do that and how even if a few strangers on a forum do believe you, how that makes whatever is missing in your life better?

And the second related thing is I have never understood how attacking someone else, someone question your claim or experience because it is far different from their own, how that attacking benefits the person doing the attacking. I guess it is something about if you can discredit the other guy with enough lies and BS, that somehow makes more people believe your claims? Like I said, I really don't get any of it. But it is what it is, I guess.

And really, that is why I try so hard to explain things. I KNOW I am not a great communicator and just want to be sure we are on the same page and there is no misunderstanding. I do this to a fault, giving people the benefit of doubt even when it is obvious to everyone that they are trolling. I guess that is on me.

In this day and age there isn't that stigma attached to gambling for advantage players, players who use their brain and mathematics to win. Some people go to college specifically for this now, majoring in things like statistics and math probabilities.

Gotta say I understand why the family of the tater-moses might not want to make mentions of his 21 cards counting play. A lot of people just casually take part in office foot-ball pool and play final four bracket so betting sport is widely accepted. But there is still the stigma regarding 21, dice and other casino game so I get it. I am sorry, if I have come across as petty. I really don't mean to be, nor is it my intention to smear Moses after he has passed. For me the whole question of Moses being a professional player, was answer last fall, when Moses was still alive. At that time, he came clean saying he had earned 100k over 10 years and would no longer be playing and for some odd reason announced his name. That really answered it for me.

But whether he was a professional, semi-professional, part-time, recreational player, he clearly had more than a small interest in blackjack. I would say he was very passionate about it and his way of playing with a specialized count. I just think it kind of odd that such a major interest and part of his life for the last decade is completely omitted from his obituary. I guess others don't think it that strange. That is fine.
