For those not aware Virginia passed a law allowing some B&M casinos in the state if the local jurisdicition held a referendum and it passed by the voters. It passed respectfully in Danville VA (had it been in the county its unlikely it wouldve have a chance). Anyway Ceasers is overseeing the construction of the casino and will be managing it when it opens possibly late 2023. Now the surprise is that apparently the Cherokee Band of Indians who run the Casino in Cherokee NC are somehow going to be involved and this is a wee bit concerning for me and Im sure Druff will know why. Indian properties generally get a wide berth from gaming authorities to run things as they see fit but this makes no sense under the VA casino law that passed..

1. The VA Lottery Commission is going to be the overseer of casino gaming within the state

2. This casino isnt being built on Indian land (unlike at least one I know of that is) its land that was taken over by the City of Danville several years ago and was sold to Ceasers for the purpose of building this casino.

So I honestly dont know why and for what purpose the Cherokee Indians being involved makes any sense nor is it appropriate in any way in my opinion.

Update: It appears this is some strong arm tactics by the Cherokee Indians due to their current deal with Ceasers regarding a 300mi radius from their casino in Cherokee NC and Danville falls within it. Not going to lie this is concerning again to me still as Indian involvement to me spells potential conflicts in regulatory framework and gamblers not getting a fair shake possibly unless its made clear unequivocally that the VA state Govt under the umbrella of the VA lottery and charitable gaming has final say on any potential conflicts and resolutions of complaints of gamblers/customers.
