Thread: Double Super Times pay - Video Poker

  1. #1
I play Super Times Pay, and Double Super Times Pay.
I was looking at the Double Super Times Pay on the wizardofodds site. It says just add 0.5% to the base return to get an accurate return.
It than gives a more accurate calculation of the formula: 1.004126984 × b + 0.000921844
I get the "+ 0.000921844" is for the 20x on a dealt royal flush.
But I don't understand the 1.004126984. What I mean by I don't understand, is that I get a different number for the calculation.

I get 1.00190476 for my calculation.
Can someone explain to me how he got 1.004126984, or double check that number with your own calculation?

We have the three cases of no multipliers, one multiplier (either on the deal or on the draw), and two multipliers (both on the deal and on the draw).
Since the multiplier has a 1 in 15 chance of occurring on the deal or on the draw we have:
The probability of not getting any multipliers is 14/15 squared or 0.871111111
The probability of getting one multiplier is [(14/15)*(1/15)]+[(1/15)*(14/15)] or 0.124444444 (getting the multiplier on the draw but not on the deal plus getting it on the deal but not on the draw)
The probability of getting two multipliers is 1/15 squared or 0.004444444 .

Since 7 coins are getting wagered for a 5 coin pay table, the return is 5/7 of the base game or (5/7)*B.
Noting that the average multiplier is 4.01 we have:
    [(5/7)*(0.871111111)]*B + [(5/7)*4.01*0.124444444)]*B + [(5/7)*2*4.01*0.004444444]*B which is 1.00412698
    of the base game.
