Yellowstone is a ticking time bomb of a huge volcano that's gonna blow at any time.

Yes, my marxist lense. What the fuck are you even babbling on about. JFC this is nutball soup.

Amazing those forests didn't burn away before the liberals showed up. Those forests must have run really really good.

There were always forest fires at Yellowstone but nothing compared to the great fire of 1988. Because of environmental policies created by leftwing massive amounts of fuel (dried out dead wood) lay on the forest floor for years until one day....BOOM!!!!!!

Controlled burning has been proven to be effective in preventing doomsday fire episodes. But you libtards stand in the way. You don't want your "precious wilderness" touched. The California fires were caused by libtards.

Today, record snowfall in the upper midwest! Snow in Kentucky! Record low temps in Florida!

Quick, AIQ. Contact your representatives. GLOBAL COOLING is at hand. We must do something to protect future generations! Tell Biden to open up drilling to insure there is enough heating oil to heat your grandkids homes!

This is urgent, AIQ! We don't have a day to waste! Global cooling is taking over. In just a few years it's going to be snowing in Texas in July! Tell them to start drilling immediately!!!! You'll be living in an igloo.

PS: Don't forget to buy a warmer coat, and long johns, and snowshoes, and....

Too fucking funny. Moderate Mickey. The wildfires were caused by liberals. What caused the fires before the libtards were starting them? Answer me that. No one was clearing out the underbrush etc etc.

I have no real opinion on the matter. Apparently 1988 was when fires started being politicized. Gee.

I don't think anyone ever argues that controlled burns don't help manage fires in the future. I'm just pointing out this has been a talking point of the right-wing command and control.

Anyway I was originally taking a crack at liberals for their green policies and thinking it is going to matter. I guess though, since I believe in the overall science, I'm to be ridiculed even though apparently we're on the same side.

Go look at the records broken on the bottomside vs the topside and get back to me.

In gambling most all successful gamblers understand variance and small sample sizes. When translating the same concept to global warming, all objectivity is thrown out. Pathetic as fuck. Legitimately.

I wouldn’t label the forest mismanagement of not enough controlled burns a liberal/conservative thing, it’s way more niche than that. There’s much greater demand now for the national forests for recreational purposes as well as too many people building homes where there maybe shouldn’t be any. Those are the source of the objections to the type of controlled burns there were in the past. Many of those objecting homeowners are going to be conservatives. But the difference in forest management nowadays absolutely is a huge contributing factor to wildfires.

I agree. When it comes to climate change libtards have thrown out all objectivity. And that IS pathetic as fuck. Legitimately.

I have no idea what you're talking about but whatevers - truth doesn't matter after America was Made Great. The booing and other shit at football games. Wow how far ghd civility of this country has went downhill and so fast.

Anyway, I was just going to point out in the past few days things that have come to my attention outside of record temps. Some island nation leadership is discussing not paying back their loans as they start to struggle to make up for rising water.

No crabbing for King Crabs in Bering Sea. Working theory is the heated up water has made them need more energy and therefore they've started to cannibalize each other. Kinda weird but I'm sure we'll hear otherwise from the resident Oceanologists.

Great Salt Lake keeps getting smaller and smaller and smaller.

Water issues are all over. Either you're flooded or the water is running out.

Misssissippi is at record lows. The army corp of engineers is making a levee to keep salt water from backing UP the river and screwing with upstream water sources.

Yea, nothing to see here. MSM and their fake news. okey dokes.

I'm sure it'll be ok when the most wealthiest nation in the world cuts their carbon output by 30% or whatever the fuck over the course of 20 years... cuz why not

The crazy thing is people don't realize as resources are put into trying to mitigate/slow this shit it just means a lower standard of living in these futile attempts. It is going to get us all around.

Oh well load up on that Sea Bass at the Bellagio buffet baby. They got the real thing and plenty of it. It'll be gone anyway.

So in a lot of ways I'm in agreement with my detractors. I still hold hope that perhaps a sustainable thing will be found, but so much of our standard living comes from cheap oil that is dug out of the ground. Whether plastics or energy and the host of things that flow from that.

Capitalism brought us up real fast to live in the gloriousest of times but it will also drive the nails in our coffin. A bit too much for many of you guys and you'll need to belittle me in some way. That's cool. Unlike Monet I'm a big boy and can take it without whining about trolling or wtfever. I'm just happy to have seen this part of civilization and been a part of it. I feel little guilt.I was sad but I'm kinda moved into acceptance.

    Take what exactly?
    Listening to your bullshit analysis?
    We aren't even Capitalist anymore.
We are a country of Corporatism.

Climate change but where is all the electricity and the key materials for EVs etc come from. I don't like a reliance on fossil fuels in case they become less available and they can no longer support society.

You whined claiming I was trolling when I wasn't even trolling. I posted an article that showed deaths vs Republican/Democrat leaning disctricts which can roughly be seen as those against masks/vaccines and those who were more supportive. You have a huge pool of data with very few confounding factors that I can think of. Deaths are measured the same all over the country. No one faking death numbers to make some point, etc etc etc.

I don't even really do much analysis. I don't claim to be that smart. I'm only smart enough to figure out who the smart ones are and listen to them. Contrast this to most people who just find someone who agrees with them.

I do agree about the bolded though. Bernie Sanders was the only legitimate candidate to seriously address this and he was cheated by the Democrats out of any chance of winning. He may be a huge socialist but he actually fights corporate interests who are by and large the largest source of corruption in this country.

I tend to agree. EVs aren't the answer either. THey're like maybe 1/4th of the way there. THey can be nuclear powered at least. I'm not sure there is a solution. The modern man in the WEst just takes up a huge amount of resources.

For most people - all their problems have been fixed by science. Cheap food, decent medicine, nice climate controlled living environment. Always some engineer or scientist to fix it and coupled with capitalism their standard of living has went up up up. I don't think they understand that this issue is not like that one.. I mean maybe we can throw a bunch of dust into the air or some other sci-fi thing but meh I'm skeptical as hell.

In some places, that future is now. The Horn of Africa and many parts of East Africa are in the midst of a devastating drought. A fifth consecutive rainy season has failed and analysts expect the sixth — starting next March — to also be a dud. As fields go fallow and millions of livestock die of thirst, there is a staggering crisis of hunger in countries throughout the region. According to the U.N.’s World Food Program (WFP), some 22 million people in Ethiopia, Somalia and Kenya are at risk of starvation.

In Somalia, in particular, aid groups and international observers warn of the imminent onset of famine. The conditions appear worse than in 2011, the last time famine was declared in the war-ravaged country, when some 250,000 people died. Every minute, one Somali child is being admitted for medical treatment for malnutrition, a spokesperson for the U.N.’s children agency said earlier this month. There are harrowing tales of mothers and families trudging through parched terrain in search of medical assistance for ailing babies. Thousands may have already died.

Close to 8 million people — roughly half the country’s population — have been impacted by drought. Up to 6.7 million people across the country may face food insecurity by the end of the year. The failure of successive crop cycles dovetailed with the inflationary pressures created by the pandemic and the war in Ukraine, as well as the ongoing instability within Somalia as the fragile government battles the entrenched insurgency of Islamist extremist group al-Shabab.

“We don’t know where the end is,” Michael Dunford, WFP’s regional director for East Africa, told me, warning of the need for the international community not only to reckon with the ongoing crisis, but the future cycles of drought and suffering to come as the effects of global warming disproportionately impact regions like the Horn of Africa.

“It’s not about the climate changing — the climate has changed. And we are not going back even once the rains start,” he said. “This is a crisis that we are well and truly in the middle of and I don’t know where the bottom is.”
I covered Somalia’s last famine a decade ago. It’s about to happen again.Earth could soon briefly hit threatening climate threshold
The further tragedy of the situation is that these most imperiled communities played little to no role in creating the conditions stoking global warming now. This is “a population which importantly has not brought this on themselves,” Dunford said. “What’s happening today … in the region is impacting a vulnerable population that has not contributed to greenhouse gases.”

Here is another place I wasn't aware of having beyond severe consequences. Even if exaggerated it is almost assuredly mostly true.
