Thread: Caesars basically confirms that new "Horseshoe" branding of Bally's is bullshit, and is in name only

Vegas and most all casinos are a complete rip-off for the civilian players. Why should I waste my hard earned money flying there only to (most likely) lose? I can just stay home and play every single casino game, slots/vp and table games at home FOR FREE!!

People have radically differing motivations. I think some actually want to be unburdened of their money. It sure looks that way.

There's a lot of talk that Vegas has abandoned value, but I don't see it exactly. Years ago, the strip offered a mix of luxury and value properties. Now the strip is mostly luxury, but value options have expanded off-strip. The overall citywide mix doesn't seem to have changed much. The strip megaresorts have never offered value that I can recall. Parking was free, but gaming and food were always tight and expensive.

A lot of advantage gamblers can't stay out of action when there aren't any advantage plays available. They bust out just like the squares. Some people just can't go to sleep with a dollar in their pocket.
"More importantly, mickey thought 8-4 was two games over .500. Argued about it. C'mon, man. Nothing can top that for math expertise. If GWAE ever has you on again, you can be sure I'll be calling in with that gem.'Nuff said." REDIETZ

They always had reasonable coffee shops where you could get a meal within the casino without getting ripped off. That's all gone.

I will say that there are some decent-ish places like Harrah's center strip which are fairly cheap.

The gaming today is FAR worse than in the past. There didn't use to be 6:5 BJ, triple zero roulette, or casinos without a single 99% pay VP machine.

I was kind of far away, but I thought I saw a River Dragons (non-Vegas) in audit mode set at 83% RTP - could have been actual not theo though. I would have taken a closer look if there weren't techs swimming around it.

I haven't tried onlline gambling, for a couple reasons.

Mainly I question the integrity of the games.

Also I am concerned that making it so easy to gamble would lead to me gambling more frequently, which is probably not wise when playing negative expectation games.

I agree today is bad. You probably have more experience with prior conditions, so I'll take the L .

In just ten years, what has changed on the Strip...

    - reasonably priced buffets everywhere (Cafe Largo Buffet at Caesars 10 years ago was $30, Bacchanal today $79.99)
    - free parking everywhere
    - no resort fees
    - full change with your TITO from the cash machines (talk about the ultimate "nickel 'n dime")
    - employees you recognized by your third visit to the resort and by the fourth visit they knew your name
    - daily housekeeping
    - free pools, with a LOUNGE CHAIR
    - 98%+ VP at most places
    - bartop drink service without lights and tickets
    - food specials or coupon specials daily
    - a full spread of restaurant offerings, from cafe/diner to 5 star fine dining
    - happy hours everywhere. Todd English Pub had $.05 beer on Tuesdays
    - free sports book seats on weekends
    - mid level comped liquor for even the average floor player. Now, be careful what you ask for, you probably won't get it.
    - comped offers, offers, offers - keep you coming back

After I click submit, I'll think of three more. And prior to the recession it was even better.
Our 25 year monthly visits are becoming quarterly and we are monthly at our more local casino, which treats us well.

My first stays at MGM were comped, as were the meals.

After several trips over the years their generosity dried up, enough that it wasn't worth staying there to me any more, given my other options.

Now for giving the casino a bit less action than I had in sin city I usually can get my room and meals comped at my go-to tribal joint, where I park for free and play the same games I'd play in LV.

Oh, I'll return soon to LV as I lke it, it's different, but the old girl ain't what she used to be.

Exactly, two hours less driving, too
