This site is not a honeypot. I took it over when Alan was about to shut it down. Everyone here knows the history of all that. Everyone also knows that I've been a poker pro for decades, and occasionally will do AP stuff on the side. Anyone who has followed me over the years knows that I'm no friend of the casinos.

This only makes my case stronger that nobody should be getting involved in the backdoor PM Message system and that most people who do are trying to scam in one way or another. Just keep everything you want to post out here in the open for all to see. A case could be made that an individual should never post on the internet and perhaps not even log into the interwebs but an addict like me got to addict.

Bad news.

All forum admins can read your private messages and you will have no way to tell. It simply requires a glance into the database, which isn't hard to do. This is true for all forums on the internet, not just this one, and not just the software we use here.

This is why I encourage people NOT to include any kind of secrets in PMs here, or on any forum.

I will say that I do not read people's PMs. The only exception involves PMs to and from known scammers, or others who have signed up here to commit crimes or harm the system.

So how did I remove the MDawg spam without reading PMs? Simple. He fired them out within a short period of time, so I just deleted all of those messages from the database, without even reading them. If he happened to send other personalized messages during that short span of time, tough luck.

After reading the OP's post, anyone who decides to PM something they wouldn't feel comfortable disclosing publicly is asking for it. Alan was morally above reading peoples' private messages, so the site was not of any value to him.
