Thread: Superbowl weekend in Las Vegas

  1. #1
These days, I now play a lot of busy times like weekends (especially holiday) that I used to avoid. Superbowl weekends is one of the biggies. I played 3 long periods this Superbowl weekend and got in a lot of play and EV.

But, while it was busy (crowded) it didn't seem as busy as other Superbowl weekend to me. Maybe it was because the Superbowl was right down the road in neighboring Arizona and the California big wigs, who might otherwise come to Vegas for Superbowl weekend, went to Phoenix instead.

One thing that I didn't do, that I have done other years is play during the Superbowl because I am a fan of one of the teams and wanted to watch the game. During the game is a very good time to play in my experiences as it isn't really that crowded, but casinos have many tables open as they know that a rush is coming immediately after the game ends, and 50% of the bettors will be trying to win their loses back.

This brings about an Interesting question. In this context is your use of EV acceptable or not?
It is official. Redietz will never be on Dan Druff's podcast. "too much integrity"

I guess you are being funny due to mickey's ongoing questioning of redietz in terms of EV. I know what EV is and I know what my EV is per hand played for each different game and conditions.

Now I do use a term 'accumulated EV' which is a running total of my EV for the year. I don't know if I am using that term correctly or it should be something else, but it works for me and if/when I mention it everyone should understand what I am talking about.

Now speaking of EV, my brother doesn't even track his EV, despite that I taught him that he should. A failure in my teaching, I guess. So he never knows just where his actual results are in respect to expectation for his play. When I try to discuss the importance to him, he says "what difference does it make". A professional or even just a serious player should know where their results are in regards to expectation.

It is both a joke and I am making a point. But you really don't know the EV. You may have a really solid approximation but it won't be precise enough to fit Redietz's definition from my understanding.
