Thread: Going For Diamond

  1. #1
Friends, I am on track to make Diamond status this year with CET. Wondering if anyone cared to comment about the value in earning this tier. Also, Alan, I assume you hold a diamond card, and you visit Rincon. Can you speak to what if any value there is in the diamond lounge? Are the drinks discounted? I've heard they serve some finger food, is it any good? Is it true that they sting you $10 to get into the diamond lounge? How about in Vegas?

I'd like to know if they still do the "Diamond in a Day" promos, and what that entails. What exactly does Diamond status get you?

Ah yes, the casino "caste system."

It is true that there are certain privileges with being "Diamond" or "7 Stars." I am 7 Stars, and to be honest, there isn't much difference between the 2.

    Some of the "privileges" include:

    1. Parking. There are Diamond and 7 Stars parking areas. They are the same. When Caesars shuts down Valet service because they are too "full" they will always take Diamond and 7 Stars.

    2. Diamonds and 7 Stars share the same check in areas and they share the same "Diamond Lounge." There is no 7 Stars lounge though years ago there was. This is true at both Caesars and Rincon.

    3. At Caesars, 7 Stars get free Internet service and movies in the room. Diamonds do not.

    4. Line cutting privileges at restaurants are the same for 7 Stars and Diamond, but I've had hosts at restaurants give me preference over Diamonds because I had a 7 Stars.

    5. The cage at Caesars is terribly understaffed at times and there are special windows for Diamond and 7 Stars. No card, no service. This is when it pays to have one, and 7 Stars get preference over Diamonds.

    6. There is a special Total Rewards window/counter position for 7 Stars and for Diamonds at various properties.

    7. At Rincon, there are different reward points multipliers based on your tier. So you get more as a 7 Star than a Diamond, and Diamonds get more than gold and platinum. But there aren't many multiplier days and if you don't play on those days it makes no difference. At Rincon Diamond and 7 Stars players get a quarterly gift IF they have enough play during the quarter.

    8. 7 Stars used to get a discount when ordering merchandise from the gift catalogue using reward points, but the discount was eliminated about six months ago. I used to get a 15% discount when ordering Shell gas cards. Now it's the same number of reward points for everyone.

    9. At Caesars there is a special taxi line for Diamonds and 7 Stars. That is worth a lot, because on Saturday nights you could wait an hour for a taxi.

    10. At all Caesars properties, 7 Stars and Diamonds and Golds and Platinums still get paid even money on even money bets, and the dealers remove losing bets with equal speed.

I don't attach much to having a 7 Stars card and I don't think most casino employees care either. But this past weekend when we checked out of Caesars the car valet actually apologized to me because he was delayed bringing my car to me. He actually said "7 Stars shouldn't be kept waiting, I'm sorry." I told him I really wasn't waiting so long, the apology was not needed, and thank you.

My wife has used the "7 Stars Companion Card" when she goes to restaurants and clubs with the girls and with her nieces in Vegas and that helps cut lines, so she makes use of it. At some of the clubs 7 Stars do get on a preferred list. I don't think "Diamonds" work.

Just one comment about "7 Stars." About two years ago I had a reservation at Nero's and while standing at the Hostess desk waiting to be seated, a young guy and his girl show up and he flashes his 7 Stars card. he says "Im a 7 Stars, can I get a table now?" He was told they were booked solid and he couldn't get a table for several hours. And he says "I'm 7 Stars." And the hostess says "sorry." Then he looks at me and says "we don't have this problem in Atlantic City." Well, 7 Stars only goes so far in Vegas.

Last time I checked they don't do Diamond in a day anymore.

Thanks for the info. Can you speak to the value of the diamond lounge, especially in Rincon? Is it free to enter or do they sting ya for $10 as I have heard is the case at least in AC?

I never heard of a charge at a Diamond lounge at any property. I certainly never paid at Rincon. Its only open limited hours, as it is in Vegas. Only finger foods served now. At Caesars it sometimes gets so crowded you have to wait to get in. I went to the Diamond lounge only to use the computer there.

The Diamond Lounge at Caesars stopped serving "good food" when restaurants complained that their business dropped off because Diamonds were eating for free.
