There are two things that bother me about Jstats decades long crusade.
1.) is that he found some minor error in the first printing of Thorp's Beat the Dealer, an error that was acknowledged and corrected and Jstat uses that to try to discredit both Thorp and hi-lo. This tiny error changes nothing.
2.) the second thing is these guys that promote some sort of specialty count, like "the Jstat count" which Jstat has promoted for years, have this need to try to convince everyone that their count or methodology is the only way. They have to try to say that hi-lo or any other count doesn't work. That the only way to win is using their count that they are promoting.
We have seen this with Jstat, and the guy at Norms forum, T3, promoting his "super-duper count' a decade ago, as well as a guy that went by Flash, that was a proponent of Hi-opt2 and even to some extend by the late Moses. It isn't enough that they opine the advantages (usually very exaggerated), of whatever they are promoting, but they have to try to convince people that their count is the only way.
And THIS despite that ten's of thousands of players, including all the somewhat famous teams from Uston, to MIT, to European teams have all used and won millions playing hi-lo. It is just an exercise in delusion, I guess to promote whatever they are promoting.

Now whether Boz, or MrV or anyone contacted casinos about the claims of anyone, including the possibility that someone contacted casinos about Rob's claims, like the recent 1.5 million dollar claim is completely irrelevant to anything. It would be hilarious as hell if some casino or casino exec was getting all bent out of shape, over a completely fantasy claim by Mdog or Ron Singers and running around trying to find them.
I suppose there is a chance, slim chance that this kind of thing could lead to extra scrutiny and rising heat that could get some other AP or AP team caught up in, but for the most part if such an event were to happen that casino or casino personnel became concerned and went on a "fake rabbit chase" I think that would be a win-win for all APs.
