Thread: Dice sliding scheme at Cosmo electronic craps table fails, four people get arrested

This actually occurred in November and December 2021 at the Cosmo, but is only coming to light now.

Nevada Gaming's investigation determined that Antcharaporn Kamonlert, Hau Ngo, Max Rappoport and Oscar Rodriguez were "observed both together on the table and away from it, during and after fraudulent dice sliding activities occurred."

"Before illegally sliding the dice [one of the cheaters] would signal the other by placing single wagers in a circle motion around the main screen [wagers]," it said in the documents.

Electronic craps tables have only one dealer and no other personnel. They were meant to cut down on labor costs for casinos, but seemingly quickly disappeared. Now we know why.

Here's a video showing how they work:

(The guy in the video says some dumb things, but ignore that part.)

These guys also allegedly hit Resorts World around the same time, but this criminal cheating case is about the Cosmo incident. It took place over a 6-day span, and netted them $226k in profits.

Dice sliding is the practice of throwing dice in a manner where they don't roll. It's considered a form of cheating, and is illegal. You would not be able to get away with this at a normal craps table, unless all the employees are really asleep at the switch. They took advantage of the fact that there was only one employee at this electronic table.

This differs from dice influencing (a favorite topic of Alan Mendelson's), which is legal but not proven to work. Dice influencing involves legally rolling the dice, but throwing them in a way to where they still land on preferred values.

The stupidity in this one was returning 6 days in a row. How long did they think they'd get away with this? Greed usually gets guys like this.

To his credit that guy that used to post here, ExAP, told me people were doing this over a year ago.

The way he described it was just degen amateurs and not coordinated. I guess there's some skill involved in doing it well? Idk.

There is definitely some skill. There's a "bump" on the table which prevents dice sliding, but apparently it's not too hard to learn how to make the dice hop over it and not get altered.
