The Trump Property in Las Vegas does not have a casino. It is a condominium-hotel and is co-owned by Trump and Phil Ruffin who owns Treasure Island a block away. I believe the original plan was for a casino, but it sort of became known Trump would have a hard time getting approved for a casino license in Nevada so they just dropped that. At least that is my understanding.

For those that doesn't know, a Condominium Hotel is sort of a cross between a timeshare and a vacation home. People own the individual condominium units, but they cannot live there permanently. They can usually spend 60 days or nights there a year, although I supposed it is different for different properties. When the owner is not using his property, it can go back into a pool of units that are rented out as a hotel, with the owner receiving a cut of the profit or credit towards whatever condo fees. Signature MGM is also a condo-hotel with similar 60 day restriction, as is Platinum at Flamingo/Kovel, where I first lived.

So this is unenforceable for "big media" or whatever it is called. These sites will have to crack down on any content that might have been created by generative AI and opens them up to lawsuits.

On some level it sort of makes sense. People could use generative AI to make up all sorts of slanderous stuff then claim it was generated by users. Or claim it was created by generative AI, who is to know otherwise?

What is this going to do in reality ? It is going to open these big media companies to numerous lawsuits. The cheapest way forward will be to create some sort of enforcement regime.

I can't really imagine this being a good thing for "free speech". People were whining about censorship previously. What a joke. I'd consider this amendment to be more big brother than less.

I think there are like some sort of happy mediums but this ain't it.
