Thread: Math Question

Easy Math Question for you geeks out there.

If you flip a quarter and you know that heads will come up 55% of the time, what are the odds that you will flip heads 8 times in a row.
Extra Credit for 9 and 10 times in a row.
I personally don't know the answer and am not going to look it up but hoping to get some free information.
If you really want to show off, just break down the odds from 1 in a row through 10 in a row.
    Thanks.

So 10 in a row breaks down to about a 400 to 1 shot?
And 9 in a row is about 220 to 1?
    Is that correct?
    That's interesting.
    That's a big edge.

    Too Easy for you.
I may have asked this question before or something similar.
    Anyways, thanks for the help.
    Appreciated!

This is too easy for any gambler. I'm amazed.

    .55 for 1
    .55x.55 for 2 in a row.
    .55x.55x.55 for 3.
    And so forth.

    Really can't get any simpler.
It is official. Redietz will never be on Dan Druff's podcast. "too much integrity"

No problem Monet. Here's something (please see the picture below) a bit more informative for your purposes (parlays). The bet and collect columns reflect fair payouts with no vig (but of course you built that in by using .55 rather than .50).

    lul
    Thanks!
10 all at once is more complicated.
6 all at once can pay the same as 8 in a row.
I should of put this in the Riddler Thread.
    I'm Stupid.

No problem Monet. I'm all for flipping quarters as long I'm collecting more than 2 quarters if I win the flip. Don't Bet Parlays!
