Thread: Forum for sale?

  1. #1
KJ reached out to Dan Druff enquiring as to whether Dan would be interested in selling this site to him.

Has there been a response yet?

Dan took it over from Alan for shits and giggles, but now he may be able to monetize it.

Who says you can't polish a turd?
    What, Me Worry?

I recall that Alan wrote that Dan bought it to ensure that all of Dan's sports predictions survived.

I believe I offered to buy the site from Dan before, and I don't think he was selling it. Everything has a price, but I doubt it would be worth it.

    Please pay attention.

This forum can't be worth more than a few thousand. Dan has enough $$ he just wouldn't bother to entertain a reasonable offer.
It is official. Redietz will never be on Dan Druff's podcast. "too much integrity"

Why would this forum be worth anything at all? It doesn't generate any revenue, and seems to be nothing more than a hobby or simple interest of the owner.

Let's not lose sight of the fact that EVERYTHING is "for sale" IF the price is right.

Of course who knows whether KJ actually meant he wanted to buy the forum "in the real world?"

He'll say stuff that in hindsight seems to be an emotional reaction to a stimulus, i.e. "just venting."

Hopefully he's "riding a big one" in California (a wave, that is...dirty minded bastards, all of you).

I love when people declare things they know nothing about. Always great to spread the ignorance.

Personally, I think the forum was worth more when Alan ran it, but the fact remains that the forum name itself is undoubtedly worth a couple thousand. I believe there are search engines where you can plug in the name and get estimates of value for the name itself sans site.

I own a few names that are worth anywhere from $500 to 10K with no website attached. I'm sure vegascasinotalak.com is a pretty popular name, so I'm going to guesstimate a few thousand without the site. But if anyone actually visits the site before buying the name -- LOL -- maybe the name value comes down.

The sad fact is that the site would likely be worth more if monet were the only poster.

lol I don't disagree but I said "can't be worth more". I am not sure the stats say this place has 500 users half the time. I'm not sure what that is about. Do 500 lurkers actually exist out there? Quivering in their panties afraid to sign-up?

Looked at 2 calculators as per Redietz's suggest. 1k and 3k. So yea, basically what I said.

No, no, no! It's not a matter of personalities. But, the freer the speech, the less the associated (monetary) value. The expensive sites have all manner and degree of rules. Ha.

Any value the name should have had is long gone. The name is a net negative now and a pretty big one at this point.

If you look at the last 10 pages of "the verdict thread", one of the more popular threads of late, it was 15 people that made the 200 posts on the last 10 pages. So THAT is what this forum has now...15 real members. In 7 or 8 years since the name change to this name "Vegas Casino Talk", a name that should have helped grow the membership, the number stands at 15 or so. That is probably half of what it was before going to this name that should have drawn people.

There is a pool of people that would be interested in a forum talking about Vegas, Casinos and Gambling as the name implies. And I am sure that name did draw people here over the 7-8 years. But they obviously didn't stay. Most didn't even post. A few joined and post and didn't stay long. So even if you could rehabilitate the forum to some degree, trying to get those people to come back and take a second look, would be extremely difficult. You would probably be better off with a new name.

My only thought was since Druff doesn't seem to care at all, except posting his sports picks and an occasional article that maybe he was ready to let it go. But it sounds like Druff is not interested in selling. And that's ok. I guess he is satisfied that he took the forum and lost membership down to about 15 active members with his "anything goes" policy. Seems like a major success.

My thought was to 'rehabilitate' the forum, with less trolling and attacks. Not doing away completely, but definitely less. And yes, I am aware we would immediately lose maybe as much as half of the 15 members. I think we could easily replace them with far more people that were interested in a forum discussion advantage play, and casino gambling with LESS of the other crap.

But really if rehabbing the forum would cost half of the 15 active members and you need a new name because the current one is a net negative, you probably would be better off starting from scratch. If I decide to do something, that is probably my path, but really, I think I would grow tired of the headaches, the spamming that occurs, the KJ Haters that no doubt would follow me and spam the forum. So probably not something I will pursue. I was just thinking out loud and seeing if Druff had any interest in selling because it doesn't seem like he has much interest in the forum now.

Here is what "rehabilitation" would look like (or a completely new forum).

There would be some trolling and busting on fellow players and members allowed, but not to the point now with all the hate. If you are going to accuse someone of certain things, which they deny, you do have to prove that. You can't just make shit like that up.

I think there would be separate sections for real gambling discussion and members sharing experiences and all the trolling nonsense. Things like Singers Rv claims would be moved to the "off topic section", which is a polite way of saying the baloney section.

I would encourage real players to share more of their experiences, understanding not everyone wants to do that in real time. Even if players shared some experiences from past years that would be great. At the top of that list would be mickeycrimm. Mickey might even need and get his very own section for sharing any experiences he wanted to share, from present day to any point in the past.

I would encourage Zenking to post and share more. Despite that some dislike him, Zenking is a real player that goes through the ups and downs of card counting and the emotions involved. I might even have a special "Zenking rants" section just for him.

I would encourage Mdawg to stay and share his real gambling experiences, that of a higher limit player who gets comps that most of us can't comprehend. But only if he could do so honestly. If he insisted in doing what he does now, he would be regulated to that 'baloney' subsection mentioned.

I also would want to get a lot deeper into sports betting talk and sports picking, something very popular at the moment and that I personally am more interested in learning about.

It just doesn't need to be a forum with 15 people, who have formed groups or cliques and attack each other everyday like it is recess at the elementary school. And that is all this forum will continue to be under Druff and these current policies.

You should sell one of them and use the proceeds to pay your property tax.

Don't forget the KewlJ Victim thread

    Then the KewlJ Baloney thread

Then you could have a Tip of the Day thread where you demonstrate things like, How to Oil your Surfboard and what not....RIP

I assume what you realized AccountInQuestion about UNKewLyingJ is about the nature of his pathology, that at some level he believes the lies that he is laying down. Well, at a minimum he must be of low intelligence as Gottlob pointed out, and barely functional, because if he had any sense he would have come up with some better lies that were not so easily disproved. Even the "I'm gonna go oil my board" he could have researched a little better before laying that lie out. He must be having a very nice time at the beach spending every spare minute putting out fires at the forums, even found time to create yet another sock puppet at WOV, but more likely given his lie about "not much traffic leaving Vegas on a Sunday at noon" he never departed Vegas at all, still firmly planted in the underground sewers.

That rigged shuffler story, besides not making any sense, reaffirmed in my mind that this guy really doesn't play much table games, because I'd expect such nonsense from a recreational player, not a card counter.
