Garnabby, posted a quote from a conversation at another website, where some part time weekend warrior, player, who now says he doesn't even play blackjack but plays spanish 21, is trashing, well respected blackjack expert Don Schlesinger and his Illustrious 18 deviation plays that anyone that card counts is familiar with. There can be up to 200 strategy change deviations based on the count. Most occur at counts that are so extreme, if you play 100,000 rounds a year, you might see that situation once a year. So most just aren't relevant. Knowing the right index play for a situation that occurs once a year or less adds pennies...literally.

What Don did with the Illustrious 18 was show mathematically that after the top 3 plays, Insurance, player 16 vs dealer 10, player 15 vs dealer 10, that each strategy change play you learn and play has diminishing returns. That means each play is worth less and less of an advantage until after the top 18 or 20, they all are really worth pennies. So Don chose 18. I don't know why that was his cut off, instead of 20, or 16. But whatever number you choose, after about 18 or 20, knowing these plays adds very little. If you are trying to bump up your win rate, adding index plays is NOT going to be how you do it. there are many other different things that can make a difference, but adding or learning 200 plays isn't it.

All this what I am sure is a recreational player is doing is trying to tear down a blackjack math expert, claiming he knows better than the expert that everyone that plays blackjack regards as an expert. Poster JSTAT who sometimes posts here, did that same thing for years with Thorp, pointing out some small irrelevant detail that just didn't matter. I am not even 100% sure this latest guy isn't JSTAT reincarnated. He most certainly is somebody reincarnated, meaning been around forums using different name.

I simply gave this player a clinic on things you can do that will allow you to play for years at very little cost. Longevity...the name of the game. You can squeeze every last cent and be banned everywhere unable to get a game and be writing books and running BJ bootcamps after 4 years, or you can apply some of my techniques that has allowed me to play and play within the casinos tolerance and comfort level for 20 years. THAT was the discussion. Garnabby, if you want to bring that discussion here, I am happy to. But again, same problem: Not many active blackjack players here that want to talk blackjack.

I had a session back in 2011 which I originally wrote about on a blackjack forum and later reposted the story at WoV, calling it the "perfect shoe". The (6 deck) shoe was "perfect" on two fronts. Started out with 2 other players. After a couple rounds of small cards coming out and all of us losing to dealer 4 and 5 card 20's and 21's., the other 2 dropped out, leaving me playing heads up with a monster count. From that point on playing my max bet and even what I called a super max bet of 50% higher than my normal max bet, I didn't lose a hand. I don't know how many rounds there were, probably close to 40 and I pushed on one hand (side story) and one hand that I spit, I won 1 and lost one for a push, but won every other round.

You know what, I am among the last of the pure card counters. My brother and I. There are a few left but the number has definitely dwindled from just 15 years ago. A couple reasons for this. So many more AP opportunities, including some with bigger edges and some that you don't have to wage war with pit folks almost daily. I know half dozen card counters that started out fulltime card counters and now do a variety of AP play, and only a small part is card counting. So are we the last of the card counters? I don't know about that, but the numbers of purely card counters is definitely dwindling. I am OK with that.

second part of Garnabby's statement. "no one, in the history of blackjack forums, made as much as KJ, supposedly". Obviously more Garnabby nonsense. I know and still communicate with a number of players that have made way more than me. And surely there were players over the years that none of us even know about. they just played and didn't participate on forums or what not.

BUT, YES, I have achieved some longevity which was my plan and goal once I moved to Vegas 15 years ago. And with 20 years under my belt, I have made some money. More than I ever dreamed of 20 years ago when I became interested in card counting. 1.6 million rounded off, right now from card counting, a little over 2.1 million all told AP. That is not get rich money, but it has been a decent living and continues to be. I am very proud of what I have achieved. LONGEVITY. I have made 1.6 million playing the simplest of advantage plays, card counting, something many AP's look down on, simply by figuring out how to keep playing and being allowed to play. Excuse me while I pat myself on the back. I came up with a plan, blueprint for what I wanted to do, and have found a way to keep chugging along and do it. Taking a moment to read the comments from the usual 3 or 4 haters. I just gave a detailed math based, insight to what I do, and have been able to do, and what we get is 3 or 4 obviously obsessed haters, doing their thing hating, with attacks and comments that they make up.

And people wonder why I limit what I share on this forum, as well as wonder where all the real AP's have gone, driven from this forum, but these bitter angry freaks. Welcome to VCT 2024. Where the trolls dominate. Several years in the making.
