I know Axel mocked Ed Sheeran, and I'm not a fan of the guy's music either.

However, I have to give a big thumbs up to any performer who goes and spends time with disappointed fans, after the show can't take place due to technical failures.

Most performers would scoot on out of there and let the lawyers, agents, and ticket companies deal with it. This shows that the dude legit cares about his fans, which I find refreshing.

Compare this to Adele, who cancelled her show at the last minute because her boyfriend dumped her, and blamed COVID. Then she posted a bullshit "apology" video, lying about the whole thing. Shameful.

I'm going to retract that praise. Why? Because of this:

This was posted by Sheeran himself on his Instagram. It was clearly planned as a good PR moment, in order to counteract negative feelings people had regarding that disasterous Vegas concert situation.

Totally contrived and lame. Some PR asshole sat there thinking, "Hmmm... how can we make Ed look like a regular guy who cares about his fans, and will be a sweet story for social media? Oh! How about he crashes a quickie Vegas wedding, and sings for them! Get the cameras ready!"

Bleh.

That makes me feel like his hobnobbing with fans at Allegiant, while seeming organic, was also a quickly orchestrated PR stunt.


Come on, Ed. Just be honest that you got fucked as much as your fans by the fail of those putting your stage together, and that you'll make it up to them in some way. Then just do something nice for everyone affected (free/discounted tickets to another show in the future, in addition to the makeup one you're putting on), and move on.

No need for this PR tour.
