Thread: True Unicorn Stories

  1. #21
Actually, I was wrong. In the Queen Cleopatra video, there are actually three full lines of Queen Cleopatra, not just two. Two are horizontal and one is diagonal And I just noticed that it's the Deluxe Version. Had this been in the Bonus, Queen Cleopatra would either be credits or chance at Jackpots, and there are 14 Queen Cleopatra, So that would have been a REALLY good Bonus.

I have a boatload of strange lucrative and bat-beat stories. Sometimes that Unicorn came back to visit multiple times.

Up until about 2009, I went to just about every casino grand opening in NV (excluding Dottys type of places) I missed a few since, but not many.

Oftentimes, I got invited to the preopening party, if not, other than a few times, I figured out a way to get in early. There are almost always some unicorns worth riding on opening night. Perhaps later, I'll share a few.

This isn't a unicorn story, but it's an "almost got it" story.

    I've told it before.

I was running a ton of coin-in at Harrah's Rincon at the one good VP machine they had on property -- 8-5 bonus with Double Super Times Pay. Was running 5 lines at $0.50 per credit, which was $3.50 per line, since it's 2 extra credits to have the Double STP feature on.

Double STP has a "jackpot" feature some don't know about. If you are dealt a Royal (1 in 649,739 odds) and also hit the STP multiplier at the same time (1 in 15 odds), you automatically win 20x. Well, 5 Royals at $0.50 would normally be $10,000, but 20x that would be $200,000.

Unfortunately the odds of this happening are 1 in 9.7 million. So I didn't even consider it.

Well, near the end of the session, I couldn't believe it... I was dealt 4 to a royal, and then the machine went into the multiplier, where it pauses for a bit as it selects one. This gave me a moment to stop and hope I'd see that queen of spades as the 5th card. Well, the multiplier finished selecting, and out came card #5. A BLACK QUEEN!!! Of clubs.

    So sick.

    Uggggggggghhh!

And I’m assuming you didn’t land the Royal with a multiplier on any of the 5 hands after the draw or you probably would have mentioned it.

P.S. I actually played on that very same machine once at Rincon & ran absolutely horrible on it

Yeah I didn't get very good draws on it. I think I got 1 or 2 flushes, that was it, and the multiplier was like 3.

I ran well on those machines, and walked away with a good profit, thanks to hitting 6 royals. That would've been a nice (big) cherry on top.

Before you get too jealous, know that I run absolutely horrible in getting royals otherwise.

This is actually why I emphasize to people that they need to account for the royal payback % on a VP machine before assuming what they're likely to lose when running a play. If you run a short-medium play, you're probably not going to hit a royal, so I generally tell people to expect a 2% coin-in loss above whatever the expected loss is. I call it the "expected non-royal loss", meaning you're running average except the royals.

They killed those machines about 2 weeks after I was there. I always wondered if I had something to do with it, or if they were just tired of having one machine which had only a small house edge. I did notice that my theo was WAY above what it should have been, which was nice (yet I had to fight fight fight fight super hard to get a 5th night comped there... lol).

About killing machines because Players are doing too well on it, reminds me of someone who said a guy near him was playing REALLY well, like winning 50 times his bet every single spin. The guy was like,"The Casino is going to realize VERY soon that this slot is paying out TOO well. I'm cashing out before they come check out this slot, LMAO!," He cashed out and left, and lo and behold, a Casino Staff Member came to check out that slot like MINUTES LATER and put the slot out of order! LMAO!

I won about a thousand on a $2.50 bet 10 years ago. I was excited! I had a full screen or mostly a full screen of the Dragon in 50 Dragons.
