IMHO the primary reason why healthcare is so poor is because the brightest minds go into theoretical physics and mathematics (since these fields are very challenging and interesting). So the healthcare industry is left with the retards.
At least most physicists & mathematicians can tell the difference between left & right.

Great point Ben - thanks for posting the link. These are the same cunts that leave sponges and surgical instruments inside peoples' bodies when they sew them up after surgical procedures.

Most of that stuff isn't by accident of retardation, etc. Same as, say, Von Braun to head up the start of NASA.

Von Braun is a highly controversial figure widely seen as escaping justice for his Nazi war crimes due to the Americans' desire to beat the Soviets in the Cold War. He is also sometimes described by others as the "father of space travel", the "father of rocket science", or the "father of the American lunar program". He advocated a human mission to Mars.
According to a 2011 BBC documentary, the attacks from V-2s resulted in the deaths of an estimated 9,000 civilians and military personnel, while a further 12,000 laborers and concentration camp prisoners died as a result of their forced participation in the production of the weapons.

    FUCKING A RIGHT!
    POWER TO THE PEOPLE!!

The last time the union went on strike was in 1991, when 550 workers stayed on the picket line around the clock for 6 years, 4 months and 10 days at the Frontier, the union said. Not one worker crossed the line, and all were brought back to their jobs and provided back pay, it said.

The union in previous strikes has literally shut down Las Vegas.

In 1970, the Culinary and Bartenders unions staged a three-day work stoppage against 16 properties, forcing casinos to go dark for the first time since they opened, the union said.

    STRIKE

It's way too big and powerful. The major resorts have no choice but to back down to their demands every time. This is a growing problem.
    A growing problem for who?
    The Evil Empire???
    GTFOH!
I have to agree with Monet on this one. I ripped into UAW and SAG over on PFA, but if the unions want to milk the casinos for everything they possibly can, more power to them.

The only casino union 'demand' I've ever seen that I thought was ridiculous was the notion that employees should be permitted to be moved to non-smoking areas, essentially at will, or some such. Maybe it was that they wanted the casinos to simply go non-smoking, idk. Ridiculous, either way. If you don't want to be exposed to cigarette smoke, then don't apply to be a casino dealer and then subsequently accept the job at a casino that allows smoking. That seems pretty fucking easy.

    Some are. At least, sometimes.

That was my grocery store experience. Chain grocery store, but they used to franchise. High school and my first few years of college.

Anyway, we were United Steelworkers because...wait...what the fuck does grocery have to do with being a steelworker?

We were guaranteed a $0.10/hour raise, or maybe $0.05/hour, every six months, and started at $5.15/hour. I guess we got paid Christmas, Easter and Thanksgiving. If you worked on those days (except we were completely closed on Christmas) you effectively got triple time because you got double time for working and still got paid for the holiday.

The part that was really dumb was USW got some percentage of us. Could you imagine that? Taking money from a 17 year old kid working at a grocery store all because your union managed to guarantee him Federal Minimum Wage as well as a $0.05 or $0.10/hour raise every six months. I don't remember the particulars, but I did the math once and figured out you'd have to work there for five or seven years (with the guaranteed raises) before you finally got to the point that you were better off than just making the $5.15 the entire time.

I also got shuffled around from grocery supervisor to deli, but that's because both of our other stores owned by the same guy closed. One flooded and he didn't have adequate coverage; the other closed because it couldn't compete with a Wal-Mart in another town. Anyway, I got moved because the other grocery supervisors had seniority and one of the managers also came over. I didn't mind that. I was in college at that time, so I'd rather move than dudes with families not have a job.

The point is, I'm Mr. Company Man, right? Come in when called in. Learned every position in the store (except meat department because you had to be licensed), etc. I could literally cover for any manager in the building.

But, all of a sudden, I'm getting customer service complaints out of thin air. That included one that was just me following store policy on deli hours, which I was told was never negotiable. What ended up happening was I got canned and the union did nothing for me, but that's fine, because I made WAY more money writing research papers for the other students. You wouldn't believe what I made per page. As it turned out, the deli manager ended up getting fired for stealing and she had trumped up the customer service complaints because she thought I was starting to figure out what she was doing. Really, I just didn't understand where some of the inventory had gone and went to her suggesting that I could be the one to check the order against the manifest in the future if she was super busy.

So, that's my union experience. I'm not opposed to unions as a rule though. It depends on the union.

In your neck of the woods there are union shops paying cashiers 30 plus an hour Straight time that get triple time on Sundays and double time on holidays. The seniors on older contracts. Nothing like that being offered to the new hires. Union wages just drive up prices for everyone, and impede progress. Everyone should be compensated based on performance. Your situation is a perfect example. You were outworking everyone and couldn’t get paid what you were worth. Nope wait for that 5c raise lol. Eventually everyone quits working hard because there’s no real incentive. What’s left are a bunch of mediocre slaves complaining about their smoke breaks, and bragging about how little work they get done for the pay.

Labor unions are a net negative for the United States in so many ways.
