The Harmon tower was demoed due to structural defects that were not cost effective to repair, well at least that's the story.

Yes I know the story. BTW, there is or was speculation that they just overbuilt and realized there wasn't the demand they anticipated and when the "structural damaged" thing came about they decided it was more cost efficient to bring it down and fight in court with the builders.

I wasn't trying to say Big Blue was the same situation, I was just comparing to a project that was completed or near completed and never opened. That is what I though the fate of Big Blue was going to be.

Big Blue was so close to completion when it shut down, they already had furniture in some of the rooms. Furniture that was sold to The Plaze and The D (downtown) when they both remodeled.

Harmon Tower sucked! We didn't even get to see an implosion as I have witnessed with several properties. They took it down peice by peice just as they had built it. They put it up piece by piece and then took it down piece by piece.

I have had 2 bad experiences with pictures. When I first moved to Vegas back in 2009, I took a picture from the balcony of my first place, the Platinum Condo (hotel) at Kovel/Flamingo. The picture was looking towards the strip because there was a sliver of space next to Paris that you could see through to the Bellagio fountains. When I posted that picture, someone reversed angled it, and publicly identified where it was taken from. Not just the building but down to the floor and even said one of 3 different possible units.

The second was here at this forum. I posted a picture 4-5 years ago and Dan Druff contacted me privately and informed me there was identifying information imbedded in the picture. I am not technically savvy enough to know about that kind of stuff. So I don't do it.

The stupid shit you trolls continue to fight with me about amazes me. That I took a trip back to Pa this spring, just as I have done once or twice a year since I moved to Vegas. That I have a friend that works the pit in a strip casinos. That I even have a brother. Just stupid shit. I swear you trolls and haters would fight me on the grass being green(ish brown) or the sky being blue if I said it. THAT is where we are with you haters.
Why would you be so mortified by and ever expect ANYONE to believe ANY of these stories you spin, when you have not only been caught lying numerous times--but then you've been caught lying ABOUT those lies? Does "I did it to protect myself" ring any of those fairy bells?

You call sensible people "haters". Actually, we LAUGH at the show you put on. And claiming to be on top of the Fountainbleau situation is just another one of your attention-seeking lies. You'd have been better off trying to splain the non-existence of your fabricated baby bro.

One of my favorite things about this forum is how "irked" Rob is that I am an AP living and playing Vegas making a comfortable living.

That is all he EVER wanted from the 1990's when it similarly irked him that Dancer was doing so. Rob Failed back then when he tried and has failed ever since. The closest he ever got to living in Vegas was when he lived in a trailer park in Pahrump in 2011, losing whatever money he had and collecting benefits from the state. THAT was Rob's big advantage play......welfare benefits and turning snap benefits into cash to lose at the casino. He even once talked about how that was done, selling access to the card benefit amount for 50% in cash outside the grocery store.

And just like Dancer, mickey, and so many other AP's, it just irks Rob to high heaven (a place he will never experience) that little old me is able to succeed where he failed so miserably.

You know what else Rob thinks is an advantage play besides selling his foodstamp/snap benefits for a fraction of their worth? Living off his kids as a retirement plan. GREAT AP stuff Rob. Everyone is so impressed with what you have done with your life.

Technically the sky is not blue, it simply appears that way on clear days because blue light scatters more than red light.

I motored to Lincoln City last night: day six on the voluntary "weed wagon" so no blazing for this erst-while pot-head.

Shot pool at my buddy's place on the river, and later we caught a surprisingly good blues / rock band in town: Johnny Wheels and the Swamp Moneys.

The singer / harmonica player is in a wheel chair; to his credit he seems to have overcome the obstacle; he and his band mates were outstanding, doing both original material and great covers of The Doors, Hendrix, and of course Stevie Ray Vaughn.

My Vietnam vet buddy wore a colorful shirt emblazoned with images of Magic Mushrooms which went over well with the bikers and coasties in attendance

While chilling between gambling sessions in the comped oceanfront room I caught a TMZ spot about the opening; apparently Justin Timberlake and Paul Anka were heavily involved, and I watched Tom Brady roll dem bones.

Couldn't tell much about what the place is like from the short spot but I hold out more hope for their success then I do for Resorts World, but I wouldn't bet against a north strip renaissance.

KewlJ you should go there with your drinking buddy the pit boss.

Fuck me, but being straight must have confused me viz. the name of the band referenced above.

It is Johnny Wheels and the Swamp Donkeys.

This casino is one of the most promising properties in the Strip in my opinion. It's a more refined less tacky Cosmo. It has the potential to pull customers from Wynn/Encore especially once it is fully built out. It blows Resorts World out of the water.

Cosmo is very centrally located and has ideal walk through traffic. You may walk into it directly from sidewalk Strip level at either end, and also from the walkway into the second floor.

Across the street the Aladdin / Planet Hollywood messed up when they required all those steps up from the sidewalk to enter.

Even Caesars requires some effort to walk in from the sidewalk. Aria too, you have to be walking those bridge walkways to get to it easily, and then you enter not directly but via Crystals. Unless you take the tram to it from Bellagio.

No matter how easy it is to walk into Resorts World or Fontainebleau (which F. isn't directly on the sidewalk with an entrance right there like RWorld is kitty corner from Encore) they are just too far north to get the serious foot traffic. You have that section of cheap Mexican restaurants and Walgreen's before you reach Fontainebleau walking from Encore. People may lose interest and turn around before they even reach F.

Of course when Mandalay Bay was built it was predicted to fail for being too far south, but it did fine - but it still doesn't get a ton of foot traffic other than people who might be walking around Mandalay/Luxor/Excalibur or taking the tram between them.

One thing is that Fontainebleau does have a pretty big casino compared to Cosmo - 150,000 sq. ft. (Cosmo 100,000 sq. ft., Wynn 188,786 sq. ft., Encore 200,000 sq. ft., Venetian 120,000. sq. ft, Palazzo 105,000 sq. ft., Caesars 124,500 sq. ft, Bellagio 156,000 sq. ft., Aria 150,000 sq. ft.).

What is funny is that Fontainebleau doesn't like to say that they are across from Circus Circus. Oh no, they are across from Resorts World (even though - actually - they are across from maybe the last bit of Resorts World's lot (if you stretch the imagination), more across from - CC's structure, and Travelodge).

So dawg, it's a "new world" and a new opportunity for the baccarat and blackjack playing dawg.

Are you gonna give Fontainebleau a shot at your massive bankroll?

Let us know what the private gambling suites are like if you do.

    Happy variance.

I've made the mistake of opening credit lines at casinos before opening day, and realizing that they can't handle my level of action or don't have the setup I require to do my thing. Or are unwilling to come to my hoped for terms.

This time I'm going to explore it more closely and for a little time before I take any steps towards giving them action. Fontainebleau has already contacted me starting a few months ago - some of the people I know from other casinos are working there.

I'm actually on a gaming break right now, been too busy with some other endeavors.

BTW the way the private gaming tables work, is that depending on the notice I give them they might be in the back or they might be right out there with the public tables but simply marked "Reserved." Mostly it depends on how busy the casino is and how much notice I give them, but also depends on my preference.

You sometimes see private players leave their tables and go to a public table and make some bets. I don't do that.

One thing I generally do is tell them at least approximately when I'll be back and whether to keep the reserved table open for me. I'm not the guy who leaves shift after shift of dealers sitting or standing there doing nothing waiting for days.

There are 2 things I recall liking from Resorts World. Tall ceilings and the way the food court works. I typically hate places that don't take cash but I am willing to give them the exception.
It is official. Redietz will never be on Dan Druff's podcast. "too much integrity"

Yeah, what the hell is it with places refusing to take cash?

This summer I flew cross country and at the Newark Airport terminal I was poleaxed to see that cash was not legal tender.

Me, I have no smart phone, I don't Venmo or whatever.

I thought cash was in fact "legal tender for all debts, public and priveate," and if so, what gives vendors the right to refuse it when offered?

Plenty of ceiling height in FB. Their escalators up to the clubs is probably 50% higher as well. They seemed to have a nice selection of eateries as well. Resorts feels cheap compared to FB.

Their high limit slots were not really comparable to the limits Wynn/Encore has available. The Cosmo has a better high limit game selection than FB as well. Their high limit table games were mostly $100-$10k from what I saw. I found it interesting that they had a full size craps table in the high limit salon. The entry into the table area was very well crafted and nice. All in all I think this property is going to draw in the high end clientele.

Good video V. Over-the-top place. I won't be visiting until after Christmas. Good to see these young people actually enjoying themselves as they're presenting a mega-property in a setting that seems beyond their reach. Saw a video of Brady walking around and he just looked out of his element. He needs to get back onto the field.

From the limited pics and videos I've viewed, F looks like LV's most extravagant place yet. Even classier than the Miami Beach property.

Over at WOV PokerGrinder has declared that Fontainebleau is on par with Wynn/Encore and Venetian in terms of luxury. I don't know about that, but what I noticed is that he "had a brookie (brownie cookie)...it was big," while there. With his weight and depression problems he should try to eat more healthful food, not a big slab of sugar and fat.
