Thread: I've just kind of lucked into a new hustle. :)

I have been minding my own business, using USB ports in slots to charge my phone when a couple of people sitting right next to me hit Jackpots and have given me $20 as an act of generosity. This could be REALLY lucrative hustle. Use USB ports and hope the person playing next to me wins a Jackpot and gives me $20. If I do this 100 times, that's $2,000 in completely free money. Disclaimer. I said IF, not WHEN.

Here’s one you can try that gets tried on me all the time:

Walk all around the casino floor & as soon as you’re walking by someone that just got a great spin, say “Oh congratulations! You know, I seem to bring people luck whenever I walk by they always get big hits!”

And then hope they tip you.

It doesn’t work on me, but since a fair amount of people try it, it must work on somebody so maybe it’ll work for you!

Or approach lonely old guys and whisper "Hey good lookin;, wanna get lucky?"

When I was in Vegas, for a winter, they told me that that sort of thing is a glorified beggars line. No one believes it, but, nonetheless, people feel sorry for them.

The actual line I got, was in a grocery store (with gas station out front). Someone told me that they ran out of gas a quarter mile up the road, and, could I lend them something for gas.

Really? I’ve never heard the gas line before, that’s pretty clever.

Because outside a casino people are more likely to give money for gas, than drugs, or booze.

And inside a casino people are more likely to give money for gas than money for hey I busted out & I want to keep playing.

    Here's a possible AP...

Buy something at a store with a self-checkout.

At the self-checkout, make a recording of the "beep tone" that follows scanning an item: this is your key to success.

Figure out a way to play that back on demand at similar volume level, perhaps using your phone or some other hidden electronic device.

Then, on future trips, pretend to scan higher priced items by moving them near but not over the code reader, and play the "beep tone" to make the drone standing nearby think you scanned it.

Clever impementation should allow you to get at least a third of your stuff for free, and armed with a receipt you'll be beyond suspicion as you exit.

Being the stickler I am, I replied that I would buy the gas if the person could show me the car. Ha.

I have to add that for all the times I've helped people out here, and there, over the small stuff, the one time that I needed a stupid quarter for the pay phone, in a different city, because I was running late for a medical appointment, decades ago, no one was of assistance.

I think it was Axelwolf who said something like,"I was gambling in a Casino when some guy claimed he needed $20 for gas money. I knew he REALLY wanted the $20 to gamble more. I asked him what the REAL reason was that he wanted the $20 for. He continued to lie and tell me he wanted it for gas money. I knew he was lying. If he had told me,"I want the $20 because I lost my money in this Casino and want a chance to win it back," I would have given him the $20. But because he continued to lie, I didn't give him any money and he left." I(Tasha) feel that most people who are begging for money in a Casino won't admit they are asking for it because they lost their money and feel they will be shamed if they straight up say,"I'm asking for money because I lost my money and want a chance to win it back." But in reality, the people being asked for money probably lost their money too gambling like literally the day before so they'd feel empathy for the beggars.

On a side note, one of my local Casinos used to have a Casino trolley that drove people from the casino to the bus station. The trolley service stopped when Covid came and never came back. One of the trolley drivers told us that she's had people come in with enough money to buy a new car and leave begging her for bus fare home, OUCH She said she gave them bus fare because she felt bad for them. Most Trolley drivers would have just said something like,"Better luck next time," and not give any bus fare. I myself couldn't see myself begging a Trolley driver for money.
