"More importantly, mickey thought 8-4 was two games over .500. Argued about it. C'mon, man. Nothing can top that for math expertise. If GWAE ever has you on again, you can be sure I'll be calling in with that gem.'Nuff said." REDIETZ

Great movie! I'm not sure the exact route they took. I'll have to look that up.

    Very nice report, Jason.

We were in Vegas at the same time. I also left SoCal on December 30. And guess what? We both had dinner at Nobu on January 1! The jacket thing was BS. I never wore a jacket there. Not sure what time your reservation was, but ours was like 8pm. If you saw a couple around age 50 with a 13-year-old boy, it might have been us.

And guess what? I also went to Hoover Dam, except I didn't take the tour. I went on January 2 (2 days after you). We walked on the I-11 bridge (very interesting to do, actually -- great view), and then parked by the dam itself and spent a little time there.

We also did the High Roller (I had 2 free tickets, and I bought the last one for my kid), as well as visited Resorts World and Fontainebleu. One of the days we hiked at Red Rock. We drove back on January 2, as well.

Both of our drives were at night, so we didn't hit traffic either way. I did see the jams you were talking about on the map. Cool that you offroaded it to avoid them.

I was worried about catching COVID since this variant is VERY contagious. Tons of people getting it in December and January. None of us got it. My only bout with COVID was June '22, and it was very mild.

You look a little bit like your dad.

Feel free to post more trip reports in the future, and congrats on the VP hits. I didn't play any VP this past trip. I felt it would be anticlimactic after my $64k hit in November (my biggest of all time, by far).

We were there together then! Our reservation was at 7:30. We had our dog under the table so you wouldn't have seen it unless we were leaving. We were there for at least a couple of hours. Kinda towards the back by where the larger parties sit at a 4 top.

Yeah, my wife read a 3rd party website and I didn't second guess it. It's alright... It is nice for me to look decent for once rather than look like a bum...

Well, good to know I didn't give everyone in the restaurant covid!

I didn't know you live in SoCal? Would be nice to meet you some day?

We were in the middle of the restaurant, in those booths by the sushi bar area. They wanted to sit us in those awful tables by the door, where you're pretty much right next to strangers who can hear your every word, and I refused.

Yes, I'm in LA. I haven't lived in Vegas in many years.

This variant of COVID is super contagious but fortunately very mild for most. My mom got it in December. Since she's in her late 70s, I was a little worried, but she never was that sick, and ended up fine. I'm not worried about COVID anymore, except on trips where it would suck to get it. I actually did think of how I might get COVID on the trip, but fortunately it didn't happen to me (or any of us).

BTW, the one time I met your dad in person was in Nobu. The picture I posted of us was from there. He was with some woman he was dating at the time, and I was with my longtime girlfriend and our son. He's one of the few people on these forums to have met my son.

I'll be glad to meet you sometime if the opportunity comes up.

Yeah my seat was looking at the sushi bar two rows back from the booths.

He had been to Nobu a lot more than I had been. I went there once but didn't remember it at all...
