Thread: interesting hedging opportunities

  1. #21
Just for fun (the degen gambler in me), I have both Purdy to throw an interception @ +105 and Goff to throw an interception at -138 in Game 2.

Purdy doesn't throw many because generally he is playing from in front and not asked to do all that much (safe throws and such). He threw 4 against Baltimore in a loss and really should have thrown 2 last week, both hitting defenders right in the chest. The one in the 1st quarter the Green Bay guy could have walked backwards into the endzone. Goff on the other hand throws a lot of ints.
Dan Druff: "there's no question that MDawg has been an obnoxious braggart, and has rubbed a ton of people the wrong way. There's something missing from his stories. Either they're fabricated, grossly exaggerated, or largely incomplete".

That's on my arb watch list, but nothing is moving.

The game moneyline was available for a while at +210 (NV SuperBook)/-205 (DraftKings), but you couldn't bet both of them from any one place.

My KC bet is definitely in with a chance. Even without money at stake, I would root against Baltimore because their uniforms are so repulsive.

    Congrats Don.

I am even after game 1, which was worse case scenario, but exactly why I hedged.

Thanks. You're on the right track now in game 2.

(To the tune of Kenny Rogers' "The Gambler"):

You gotta know how to bet 'em,
    Know how to sweat 'em.
Know when to scream and shout,
    Know when to sigh.
    You never count your money
'Til the blind men in the striped shirts
    Decide the game is over
And shoot that gun into the sky.

I don't really get the Red's gambler tune and lyrics, but I am glad I hedged my wagers. Had I left them as they were coming into the week, I would have lost $765. As it turned out hedging just enough so I didn't lose either wager resulted in a win of $12.

Additionally my QB interception wagers hitting Purdy, but losing Goff, netted another $10.

Was I hoping for more than winning $22? Hell yes! But I got several thousands of dollars' worth of action and won $22. Always a good thing when it is really about the bonus money and rollover.

Well done. I hope red turned a profit also, as he influenced me to pick KC. Circa doesn't give any bonuses, so I was relying on the bet itself to be favorable.

On the Legal Sports Report podcast, they discussed a big opportunity on last week's Texans/Ravens game. As usual, various sportsbooks offered odds boosts, but ESPN Bet reportedly kept its normal limits instead of capping the boosts at the usual $25 or so.

ESPN Bet is technically new to the market, although it's a rebranding of the earlier Barstool product, both associated with Penn Gaming. We miss out on everything here in Nevada.

To quote redietz’s girlfriend, hedging is for pussies.

Nothing personal. Just throwing out a quote from an expert.

    Hey regnis!

Count me in the hedging is for pussies camp. Still glad I did so in this case.

Her verbatim quote is "Hedging is for wienies," although it's usually aimed at me and the implication is as regnis says. She just got over a nasty bout of Covid. Lost all taste for about three weeks, but it's on its way back. By the way, I think she's sitting 40th-something in this year's Beat the Host.

She had a tentative offer to be on Richard Munchkin's podcast, but the Covid derailed her trip to LV this week. Maybe sometime down the road. She's publicity-averse, but I keep nudging.

Yes we do. So what you have an address elsewhere? Or someone betting for you out of state? I have thought of betting throw a friend elsewhere. Too much hassle for the limits I am doing.

No, I don't have regular access to other states. I only play them when I'm able to be physically present. But I try to keep aware of the full industry, because I want to know the full range of lines and promotions on offer.

I rarely venture into team play or partnerships. If a friend or family member is already a gambler, that's usually an indicator of stupidity or degeneracy. If they don't gamble, it's very unpredictable how they'll react to gambling.
