Unfortunate, certainly but c'mon, guys...WTF were you two lawyers thinking?

A couple filed for divorce; each litigant has their father as their attorney.

    DANGER WILL ROBINSON!

One of the cardinal tenets of practicing law is to avoid a conflict of interest; parents representing their spawn in a highly emotional divorce action is just so wrong on oh so many levels.

Both parents should have known better and coughed up the cabbage to hire outside counsel.

    A couple of dead idiots...

The most tragic part is that they had just had a Baby, yikes! That poor Baby is now an Orphan, sad story all around.

Actually the murdered attorney was representing his wife, not his daughter. And the father who was representing his son (her ex) shot the couple... and the son is also an attorney?? Crazy.

Correct...my mistake: representing one's current wife in a hotly contested family law action against her ex is even more idiotic, as is the father of the ex getting involved; I wonder if the two lawyers had some "history" between them?

Still, the same rule applies...lawyers, stay away if the case affects you personally.

Lots of depositions are videotaped: could be LVPD has a copy.

My morbid curiosity has me wondering just what went on there that led to this oh, so predictable ending.

    Shakespeare nailed it...

I bet KJ had an appointment just minutes before the shooting.

I think what made me think that the father was representing his daughter is that the story said the woman just had a baby, and the picture of the dead guy showed an old dude.

What, was he banging his secretary, knocked her up then married her?

That shit happens a lot, actually; as I always say..."Familiarity breeds attempt."

Makes a lot more sense this way….father of the ex and murderer got what he wanted here. The arrogance of the guy representing his wife is astonishing….f up your wife’s ex’s life, his father is representing him, and he didn’t consider this a possibile outcome?

Complete fucking arrogant moron, must have went to the same law school as the dawg.

Hmm. What might that mean? Ha.

Is it should have went or should have gone?

The past participle of "go" is "gone," so you should use "have gone" when forming the present perfect tense. The present perfect tense is used to describe an action that was completed at some point in the past, but the exact time the action was completed is not specified.
If you aren’t sure whether to use gone or went, remember that gone always needs an auxiliary verb before it (has, have, had, is, am, are, was, were, be), but went doesn’t.

I could have gone to the store yesterday. <--- Right

I could have went to the store. <--- Wrong

The father killed himself after he shot the couple. Maybe the pic was of him??

The father/killer is reported to have had terminal cancer. 77 years old……

Makes it entirely foreseeable. He’s a goner anyway and figures his son now likely gets full custody of his grandchildren, but they have custody to her sister for now…fascinating case.

Forums allowing senior members to thus commit murder-suicide might have been a lot more fascinating. Ha.

I guess that, on a deeper level, a mate is the main way to try to validate one's existence, itself, and, so, the whole thing is prone to explosions.

I'm just hanging around to the hear the juicy details of your mirror-image twin, s'regniS (read backward), connection to the KJ broken-arm casino story. Hopefully, his own "family matters" have let up. Ha.

Say, wouldn't it be something if the picture of the dead parent mentioned above is none other?

I think there's more to this story than we are hearing.

Obviously it's a huge tragedy, and the old man who murdered that couple (before killing himself) was a psycho.

However, if you look at the ages of the people involved, it paints a picture to me.

Victim #1 (attorney) was mid-50s. Victim #2 (his new wife) was 30s.

Perp was in his mid-70s, and was the father of Victim #2's ex-husband. The ex-husband was also 30s.

Everyone involved were attorneys except the wife.

Victim #2 and the ex-husband were in a child custody battle, despite 50-50 custody previously having been awarded.

Looks like the ex-husband first got hit with the indignity of being left by his wife for an old dude, and then after 50-50 custody was awarded of the kids, suddenly she was trying for more. He probably blamed this on the old dude (remember, another attorney) for getting going, and was furious.

He ran to Daddy, another attorney, to help him. Daddy was even angrier about this, and probably started having murderous thoughts. Probably felt he was near the end of his life anyway, and decided to kill his son's ex and her new husband, then off himself. Reports show he was careful not to shoot anyone else, and in fact told another person in the office to leave the room before the shooting started.

Would that have been the person who was taking down or recording the deposition?

As originally mentioned, I wonder whether the event was caught of a video of an ongoing depositon, or did it occur "off the record?"

Not that it matters for purposes of criminal prosecution, but it would be relevant in the likely future wrongful death litigation which I am certain the estates of the dead couple will bring against the estate of the shooter.

    It was the shooter's wife.
