I must say after introspection my premise is off. Although there may be some sweet pickles at a banquet, sweet relish everywhere for hot dogs(which is infuriating), there are dill pickle slices on almost every burger of almost minimal quality, so there is a majority of dill offered.

    Dill is a dilly.

Why is it called dill? The name is derived from the old Norse word dilla, meaning to lull or soothe, referring to the carminative properties.
