The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA) is a quasi-government entity meant to promote tourism to the city of Las Vegas. It was created by the Nevada state legislature in 1955. It spends taxpayer funds.

They came up with the "What happens here, stays here" ad campaign in the 2000s. In 2004, just a year after the slogan was invented, its trademark was sold to R&R Partners, a private company which often works with LVCVA. The sale was overturned by a federal judge, after controversy sprung from the sale of the trademark to a private entity.

They really need to disband the LVCVA at this point, as they no longer have any clue what they're doing, and are wasting taxpayer funds.

Even Vital Vegas is calling a waste of taxpayers money. And if he wanted some of the cash he would certainly qualify.

Unfortunately the cunt known as “Vegas Starfish” got her share. And she will pitch anything for a few dollars.

    Insane.

They might as well spend the money on gold plated barbed dildos to ram up the taxpayers asses.

"The LVCVA’s primary source of revenue is through room taxes. These room taxes are paid mostly by visitors to Southern Nevada. The LVCVA also receives revenue from leasing the Las Vegas Convention Center and through operating the Las Vegas Monorail. All our records and reports are open to the public and reviewable on request."

    Just to provide more context.

Oh, well that’s good to know.

So instead of wasting money paid by Las Vegas residents, they siphon off money from tourists that would otherwise go into the local economy & waste that.

    Cool.

I showed a friend of mine chatgpt. A few months later she is applying for grants for her band and others. They had to put a plan together and submit paperwork. I wonder how this influencer thing works? Far easier and corruptible to just write 100k checks. A lil kickback wink wink somewhere no doubt.

Giving away $4M worth of tickets would seem to illustrate how much of a fail the F1 really was. My guess is they did not have as many takers on those 5-figure seats as they hoped. So they used taxpayers money to buy them and the people who put the event on make their money and it looks more like a success. The city got robbed. This kind of nonsense happens all the time I'm sure.

And they gave TKO/WWE $5 million to bring Wrestlemania to Vegas.
