The LV politician, Telles, was convicted of murdering a LV journalist who published embarrassing info about him.

Too bad Nevada didn't seek the death penalty: this asshole deserves a slow, painful death.

Nevada is one of 27 states that permit capital punishment.

However, the state has not actually carried out an execution since April 26, 2006.

A sentence of death is reserved for individuals convicted of murder involving aggravating circumstances.

I don’t know what parole statistics are in Nevada for indeterminate sentences like the 20 to life Telles got but in Nevada determinate sentences are also given a range such as for example 1 to 3, 2 to 4, 3 to 6, etc. and unless the inmate is a complete screw up he gets out as soon as the minimum has passed. For example OJ was sentenced in Nevada to 9 to 33 and got out in 9.
I tell you it’s wonderful to be here, man. I don’t give a damn who wins or loses. It’s just wonderful to be here with you people.

Murder is a very cruel thing taking life away and to murder for selfishness is amongst the worst. Only self-defense has any chance to be guilt free because of course the other person can be blamed.
