Thread: MGM properties are revoking Noir status and freeplay from perceived advantage players

My record to Vegas from Texas was $10.99 on Frontier. The airfare was 89c and the rest were fees. However I have more recently shied away from them because they love to change and cancel flights often. SW is my go to, paying the fares with credit card promo points.

I see $21 on Spirit, one way, if you book somewhat ahead:

They should advertise that as the blackjack player special.

Only losers like Crimm, and missing Mission146 (never underway), worry about optimal living arrangements from one motel, to another, in the vicinity of shit-hole casinos, while spout about their supposed intelligence and money, as if anyone much cared about it, anyway, in general, or specific.

I don't have any clue what their min living conditions/accommodations are. I have no idea what their personal lives are. I know both of them have above intelligence. I know Mission's raw Math abilities are exceptional. I know Mickey's ability to break down AP slots is exceptional.

I don't require exceptional lush accommodations, however, I shy away from Motel 6 with riffraff, but I have stayed in much worse while on the road because of limited options. To be honest, as long as I have water, power, air, heat, internet, and a comfortable bed, I'm good.

I lived in the crime-ridden Naked City behind the Srtat for more than a year when I was 19/20. I lived near the worst part of Freemont and 11th. I have lived in weekly apartments like the Katie Arms apartments. I never had any issues.

Recently while traveling... as we did not have much choice unless we wanted to drive a long way in the middle of the night to find proper accommodations, so we oftentimes lived out of an SUV. We had satellite internet (Starlink) a big Bluetti power bank, a DC cooler, and a memory foam mattress and we were just fine.

The general rule is avoid the cheapest places in the area. Go by reviews and stars but mostly just never get the cheapest motel unless the area is already nice. $10 a night can ensure you don't have the crazies like garanbby walking around at night.

Everyone gets lied about on the internet. If it's untrue, you don't care about it at all. In fact, it doesn't take a ton of resourcefulness to have a little fun with it.

Motel 6 is a place I've never stayed at. But I believe it's in the final stages of being sold to an outfit in India. I don't know if anyone else here has experience or knowledge about off-the-beaten-path "motels" throughout India, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka, but our worst Motel 6 complete with riffraff is a dream-come-true compared to most of them.

I have little experience with SUV accommodations, but that's what RV's are really for--short-term stays here & there. We lived in ours for about 5 years after selling the house, and even though it was over-the-top luxurious and sizeable as far as RV's go, it really didn't measure up for that long a time.

After about 2 months and thousands of miles driving My 35' RV throughout WA. Without a Backup camera no less, I bought a nice 360 camera system, but I never got around to setting it up.
I wanted to look at a bunch of different land/properties that was going to take me up some steep winding mountain passes, barely drivable in a car. My wife was not comfortable driving this RV, She can/has, but nervously so, she needs more time to get used to it. Added to the fact that I tore my shoulder rotator cup(Very painful, and lasted for 3 weeks+) I rented a 4WD SUV for a month.

Try changing an RV tier on your own, I had to do it. Yes, I have good roadside, but when you are way the hell out in the middle of nowhere it will take forever for them to come.

Those RV tires are big and heavy, getting them off and on the rig isn't even the most difficult part. The hard part is getting the spare tire from under the RV and then getting the other one back up under there, all while lying on your back(with a torn rotator cup).

At one point, I ripped off the spare tire from underneath while going through some rough terrain, it messed up the cable wench/holder system. I didn't have any jack straps or anything I thought would hold it up well enough, you don't want that thing coming off while driving at any kind of speed. I had to give in and call a tow company to strap it up there. Guess what?
The guy did a shit job and it came off again the next day. I called them back out and they re-did it. Of course, It came loose again. It was hanging too low while swinging and banging around. The jack straps were getting frayed/cut while rubbing against the metal.

You know the saying, If you want somthing done right...

I found a Walmart and purchased some Jack Straps, wire hook turnbuckle kit, and a 3-ton floor jack to lift it up to the frame as tight as possible to secure it right. FFS, the Jacks Hydraulics didn't work, so I just used the small tire jack and slowly jacked it up and secured each side until it was secure as hell. It took a long time, I was filthy and scratched up all to hell, but I never had an issue with it after that.

I'm amazed at the level of competence in the world. It is so surprisingly low. I had a friend who is fairly smart .. tried to do some MCing with him but holy shit. How did we make it to civilization?

Oddly the worst motel we ever stayed in was not cheap. In Midland, TX things can get ridiculously expensive during oil/gas booms. A mid-level place was going for close to $200 a night, so I got a bit too frugal. What a shithole... my wife was close to an anxiety attack.

Years ago, dead of summer, my then young son and I left Yellowstone after a week and headed back to stumptown.

As it got late we tried to find a motel...nothing in Montana...nothing in Idaho...nothing in Spokane, Wa....til I finally found the only available spot: an ancient, poorly maintained "cabin colony."

The room had unrepaired bullet holes, a bad odor, and bugs.

Yes, at some point it got really bad prompting me to take too much Advil(I'm not supposed to be taking that). I was My wife made me go to the hospital in Leavenworth WA. They took X-rays and the doctor said he believed it to be just that.
They gave me some muscle relaxers, but they didn't seem to help after taking them for a few days, so I didn't continue taking them. They suggested I might benefit from some type of injection, I didn't ask what kind because I was opposed to anything like that unless it was a last resort. I never had a rotator cup issue in the past.

I do not even know how or why it happened. I did slip down onto my back while hiking down an embankment, but I was totally fine, it just knocked the wind out of me, and I was fine for days after that. I just woke up one day and it hurt a bit. I just assumed I slept on it wrong and needed a better mattress in the RV but it kept getting worse and worse.

I just did my best to stop using it as much as possible, that was hard since I'm right-handed and it was my right shoulder. I drove mostly with one arm until we got the SUV. My Wife did most of the SUV driving.

    Get a second opinion...or a hearing test.

An MRI is needed to confirm a torn rotator cuff. X-Ray wouldn't do it.
I tell you it’s wonderful to be here, man. I don’t give a damn who wins or loses. It’s just wonderful to be here with you people.

I don't disagree with that. I can only assume he said that given my symptoms and process of elimination.

I don't need a second opinion unless it comes back at some point. I know what he said. My wife was there as well, so a hearing test is not needed. Again, I believe he ruled out other things and has experience in determining the possible issue.

I have a second opinion: consult with kew. He'll come up with another whopper that'll have you in stitches, and you won't notice the rotator cuff discomfort any longer.

That's good advice, but I have even better advice.

Provided you can afford it, stay in midgrade hotels in the area. Ignore the entire cheapest tier.

Low end hotels and high end hotels both tend to be the worst value.

For example, in a given area you will often see this price range on the hotel offerings:

    Low end: $95
    Middle end: $150
    High end: $400

The difference in quality between the $95 hotel and the $150 hotel is usually staggering, plus the difference in clientele is also huge.

I could understand staying in the low end hotel if it were $40, but for 2/3 the price of the middle one? Might as well splurge and go up a class.

High end hotels are usually horrible value, and aimed at those who are too snooty to stay in a middle end place. I can enjoy a luxury hotel, but only if I'm getting a deal on it.

Yea I don't disagree just depends on your income. I tend to have gone more your route past several years. But if the money really matters to you then the cheap tier is useful. I think cheapest never has many stars on reviews .. but there is simple logic that the cracked out down on their luck are going to be in the cheapest place.
