This "Man About Town" label that Rob has bestowed upon me is interesting. When have I EVER talked much or posted pictures about what is happening in Vegas? Maybe a little bit during things like the superbowl or F1 race, just because as someone living in close proximity to the strip, I am inconvenienced. As for darkOz, I was just making the point that Mdawgs tries to discredit him, just the same as he does every single person who has ever expressed doubt about Dawgs claims. But since we are on to DarkOz, multi-carders are not my favorite people right now. I have mentioned a couple times that I had 5 different revenues or streams of AP income (or loss) in 2024. One of those streams and the one that was a small loss was my attempt to get back to playing the mailer game, after 4-5 years away from it. It didn't work out well and ended in a small loss of a couple thousand dollars for me.

The reason that it didn't work out well is because after the initail large coin-in, I missed some of the mailer bonus periods while working on a play out of town in the spring, and then when I got back to Vegas during the summer and tried to work that play, I quickly learned that the cycles were dramatically shortened, and if you only played the free play, you would be cut off very quickly. Very different from the 8 year period that my partner and I played the mailer bonus game and did quite well, were a big initial coin-in would generate 6 months of good mailer offers. And I blame these changes and crackdown on the many multi-carders that ruined a good thing for everyone. But what are you going to do....not everyone has my milk or shear vs slaughter mentality.

Guess what at my level of play, I have had several dozen $10k winning days in my career. I also have had some, fewer but some 10k losing days. (fewer losing than winning just because of the logistics of bankroll. I need to replenish along the way to reach 10k in losses, and usually won't bother). But just imagine if I said something like "I win 10k a day, but not everyday". Would just be weird.

Otherwise I dont know enough about DarkOz and the multi-carding game to have an opinion on the credibility of his numbers.

There is no circumstances that I would work for the dark side. Besides being an advantage player that makes a living off casinos, I am and have grown very anti-casino. It is a very predatory industry, that I would want no part of from that side.

My end game is to walk away when I have enough money to live comfortably for the rest of my life. That doesn't mean I wouldn't do something else, but it means I wouldn't HAVE to. I actually live pretty frugal right now despite where I live. I need about 40 grand a year right now and could live on less elsewhere.

I can't speak for all advantage players that play for a living, but the finances of a card counter type AP are pretty unique, because we need a large bankroll to make decent money. Most of us don't have the bankroll required when we start out, so the early years are spent building that bankroll. Many of us live pretty frugally to do so. For me, that period took all of my 5 years of playing Atlantic City and several years after I moved to Vegas, before I really had the bankroll I wanted. That is a 100k bankroll, that is nothing but bankroll and an equal amount of money available in savings to replenish if I ever needed to, which I have never come close to needing to.

After I got my bankroll where I wanted and needed it to be, I bought a house in Summerlin, 2 actually, one as an investment which I sold a short time later, and rolled my primary home into a condo after my partner died. So after getting my bankroll, I started to live a little better. And that is when I started to be able to save some each year towards retirement. Not a lot but some. It has only been the last 3 years, 3 pretty good years, including my best ever in 2024, plus a large chunk settlement that I have put significant money away towards retirement.

So I am sort of catching up to where I should be. Probably need another 10 years , unless I luck into some other type chunk money, like a settlement. And I think I have another 10 years of doing what I am doing. Maybe not specifically the sports betting bonus stuff that I did well with in 2024, but some other AP play will come along to replace that, and I think I have 10 years of card counting left at least.

so that is the plan. Of course no one can see the future. Things may not go as I am planning and I will adjust if that should happen.

By the way, the day I really walk away from AP/card counting, I do have a pretty sizeable BR that would immediately be folded into retirment type money. So there is that.

The east coast is by far the best place in the freeplay game that DO plays. A few years ago a friend showed me a mailer from an Atlantic City casino. It was $700 a day for 5 days out of the week for 2 months. A total of 28K. And that’s just one AC casino. The other casino did the same thing.

I asked how much wager triggered it. He said 35K in one day.

If you know advantage slots there are things you can do to get in a 35K wager in a day without losing money.

It don’t take a brain surgeon to figure out how to multi-card it so DO is or was in an easy spot. The trick is getting away with it for any length of time.

AC is also the first place I heard of that required ID to play blackjack. (similar to Dan Druffs recent LV experience), so it just seems strange to me they haven't cracked down on multi-carding and at least started reducing free play as Vegas did 6 years ago or so.

But they have tried to stomp it out. DO has written about it and so have industry insiders. Casinos across the country used to send out big freeplay but most of them quit doing it after getting raked over the coals. Don’t you remember Alan complaining about big cuts in freeplay?
