Thread: Bob Dietz Season Summary

  1. #1
Split the first four weeks of the football season, two weeks won and two weeks lost, basically a wash financially the first month. Then won all but one week since then, although no great, overpowering weeks and a handful of the weeks were half-bet wins or less. The one losing week was less than a half-bet loss.

Not too shabby. The only college future was Vols at 50-1, which yielded dinner money profits.

Nothing shiny and not much fun, but it did put the "pro" in professional.

Here is just one account I won't be using anymore( as I have been limited) Perhaps I'll post up accounts that I am no longer going to use.

(Not related to the below)I was crushing WinTorro sports with some negotiated no-deposit-free bets. Eventually, I did make deposits for around 700-1k for a 200% bonus. I was reluctant to risk any more than that as I wanted to see if they paid etc. I was up around 5k and got paid without issue. A few weeks later I went back to see if I could get another bonus but It looks like they closed up shop and I got out just in the nick of time.

About 19k in and 41k out give or take a thousand and there's still a few thousand left to cash out. (I'm not going to take the time to add everything up to a T.
They don't log free-play bonuses or free-bets, only cash bonuses.

You have to know, since I have partners/clients, that I have timed and dated emails for every play. Now some of the email reports are timed a few minutes after kickoff, because I generally don't report what we have in advance of kickoff. The clients do not have a perfect correlation with each other, as some opted to close a few open teasers at different times than others, but the overlap-match is 95% plus. Probably more like 98%. The clients/partners, for the most part, know each other and compare notes, so there is no "A gets Lineup A," "B gets Lineup B" nonsense.

You have to also know that, after 45 years of doing this professionally and doing this from the age of 13, I have never exaggerated or misreported any results.

I don't have the fairy tale option of bopping around the country solo with partial reportage of results nobody else experiences with me. That kind of private masturbation is not something available to me. I actually have nowhere to hide when I lose.

Since my emails go out to clients directly with no strings, they can go public with my results, regardless of how good or bad, at any time.

What makes mickey such a sweetheart is he knows damned well that every Wise Guys contest and result for being monitored by 'Tipsters or Gypsters?" has been publicly available to tens of thousands of people. And he also knows Billy Walters didn't hire me based on rumor and a video of me driving around Las Vegas making bets.

Have any of your clients ever publicly shared your season-long results, or do they prefer to keep things private?

Most keep things more or less private, since there is no upside for them sharing results, but when McCusker was publishing "Tipsters or Gypsters?," he evidently somehow had contact with a couple of my clients because he commented on exchanges he had with them.

There's not much secretive or I-Spyish regarding any of this. I was asked to be in "Who's Who in Sports Gambling" based on reputation. Same with my invite to The Wise Guys Contest, which is private and invitation-only. Mr. Walters didn't get my name from a personal ad.

I think that's what throws me about this forum and "moderne" YouTube dudes. There's no third-party verification of ATS records. Twenty years ago, everything was about verifiable third-party documentation of how handicappers did ATS. I was in Playbook on newsstands for more than a decade. There's not much mystery to whether somebody's won or lost when their plays are public knowledge in advance.

McCusker was frankly brutal when publishing "Tipsters or Gypsters?" He framed your spread options in a 24-hour period from specific places, because he felt that your clients, who were non-professionals, were not likely to be betting 24/7 all week just to get the best numbers. So whatever your results McCusker published were inferior to your actual results by at least 1% and often more like 2%. The Wise Guys Contest framed spreads the same way, locking you into specific numbers from specific books at specific times. So again, Wise Guys Contest results generally were inferior to actual results.

Since you don't have the option of fairy tale reportage of results perhaps you could finish reporting on the item below. It's been almost 3 months since you posted this and you never followed up. So why didn't you follow up? Don't like reporting bad results?

Redietz made the following post on Nov 25, 2024 in the Smart Money thread?

"To give people a sense of what's "normal" ATS, I'm in a forced-choice competition at Youwager.lv. You must pick six NFL games ATS each week. Currently, I'm 39-32-1 ATS. That puts me 77th out of 822 contestants heading into tonight's game."

Why do you think redietz never gave his final results in this contest?

Why do you think redietz never gave his final results in this contest?

Probably because what I reported wasn't very significant and there was no reason to report it. I didn't have to report the 39-32 ATS, either. I called it "normal" in the quote above. I'm not even sure I bothered to fill out the card the final week, as I was eliminated from cashing. The top 10 in the contest did very, very well, actually had the best records I have ever seen in this particular contest.

I also didn't report my "tied for 25th" finish in the Heritage Sports Race to the Super Bowl this year versus a couple thousand people. Why not? It wasn't very significant. So mickey, should I wax eloquent on my "tied-for-25th" finish now? Frankly, I think I sucked. I know there were a couple thousand entries, but I should have done better than that.

But thanks for giving me an opportunity to mention the Race to the Super Bowl finish. I finished tied for 25th, which was the bottom of the cashing barrel. I had 146 points. Winners had 154. Each win counted as one point. I really did suck, regardless of finishing 25th out of all those people.

People with accounts at Heritage can look up the results themselves. Go ahead and look it up. Hit the "Contest Central" link at the bottom, then the "Race to the Super Bowl" button. No mysterious handle -- I'm listed as "redietz."

    I'll do better next season.

Mickey, were there any other contests I failed to mention? Thanks for keeping tabs. I should hire you as my agent.

LOL. God, you are a gift. I completely forgot about the 25th place finish out of a couple thousand.

P.S. Mickey, you do realize I actually won money betting all but three weeks this season? And this is what you come up with to criticize me? I did not like this season -- have made much more money other seasons, but I managed to grind out a little bit of money most weeks and had a couple of half-decent weeks. Relied too much on teasers with the back half of wagers being the NFL. But all is well that ends well. I don't think I've ever felt less pride from a season. I really did not like it. All of the reliance on back-half teasers in the NFL and all the hedging made it distasteful for me. But I'll take it. Hobos can't be choosers.
