Thread: I filed my first W2G form! :)

  1. #1
I won roughly a $1,900 Jackpot (I got an unexpected Mystery Progressive Jackpot. and received a W2G form and filed it with my taxes! This is my first W2G form ever and it was extensive to tell you, I had to put the Cashier name/Number who processed the Jackpot and a LOT of other little things. As I filed my W2G Form I thought of how time consuming it would have been if I had about 20 W2G Forms to fill out.

    Yeah, you're "confused" alright.

What's this about you claiming that you "had to put the Cashier name/Number who processed the Jackpot and a LOT of other little things?"

What other "little things" did you yourself have to put on the W2-G?

I ask because I get W2-G's pretty regularly and I NEVER have had to write "the Cashier name/Number who processed the Jackpot and a LOT of other little things" on the W2-G: fact is, the player writes NOTHING, the W2-G is prepared by the casino, not the player, based solely on the info you provided when you got the player's card you had in the machine when you hit: the casino, not the player fills in the info you mentioned.

That's the way the Oregon tribal casinos do it; I cannot imagine the process differs in Miami.

Of course if you were stupid enough to hit without using a player's card then the staff would need to verify your name, address and SSN but that would be ALL you'd be required to provide as the casino, not the player, types in the machine number you hit on: it is called "race" on the form, at line 6; as for the name of the cashier it is called ""cashier" at line 8 but no real names are used, only initials and numbers.

Did you have to create the W2G form template on Adobe Acrobat too, or did the casino do that part for you?

Seems like we would have heard about this $1900 win at some point ...

But thats what happens when Tasha moves up in the world and joins the big time gamblers.

Hmm. I only mentioned it briefly through private message, not in the public part of VCT and WOV.

I used TurboTax and filed my own taxes.

Actually that’s the way they do it everywhere in the US.

it’s just that in Miami some of those slot attendants are so hopped up on coke that they will sometimes either bring you a blank W2G by mistake or else print one out but not even notice that the ink in the printer is out.

It happens much more often than you might imagine,

Congratulations, did you also offset it with the losses over the year so it wasn’t a taxable event? Not sure if you pay any Federal Income Tax after deductions, as most working poor don’t. But if you do, and didn’t deduct you cost yourself money. And it also could mess up your EIC, which again many of your people have down to science by ensuring you don’t work too much that it hurts your maximum credit.

But the tax prep person at Liberty or Jackson Hewitt (I think they are the companies you people use) should have explained that to you. Anyways any gain was probably offset by the 300% interest loan you took to get an immediate refund. An entire industry was built off exploiting you people to get your refund sooner.

If you look it up on Urban Dictionary the term “nigger rich” was created during tax season.

And taking that refund and putting it toward the retirement savings you withdrew would be a great decision, but again, it’s not happening and we all know it.
Dude, parts of your post were VERY questionable, at best. You probably shouldn't be saying some of that stuff.

When I said,"Write," I was referring to what I had to manually write for my taxes. I manually entered the W-2G into the TurboTax App. The Casino filled out the W2-G but I was fully responsible for manually entering everything into the TurboTax App.

The Cashier who processed the Jackpot was referenced by a letter and some numbers. I don't get why you think hitting a Jackpot without a Player's Club is STUPID. A lot of People don't play with Player's Club cards, especially people just doing quick one day visits from other Cities, Countries, or States. A LOT of people also like to play unrated, not wanting to be tracked, so they play without Player's Club cards.

I tipped the guy who verified my Jackpot and paid me a $20 and he smiled a grateful and happy smile and thanked me and I welcomed him.

How are you allowing a thread that takes place completely in Florida with no relation whatsoever to Las Vegas be posted in the Las Vegas section without bringing it to everyone's attention?

For the Posters doubting that I got a Jackpot and got a W-2G, here is a picture of my W-2 form. The other side had my personal information, so I took a picture of the non personal information of the W-2G

Yea that definitely proves it, thanks for clearing that up.

You should be able to show the amount and some other things, Tasha. That is just a blank piece of paper and could have anything?
