Thread: This forum is like a broken record...ALL PARTIES CONCERNED

  1. #1
Yeez, I thought this forum could actually turn out to be something useful. I guess I got my hopes up after the biggest troublemaker decided to leave. Boy was I wrong. It seems that some of the people active here just love to go on and scratch eachother's eyes out.

Wake up call: all you pro- and con- math people.....YOU ARE NOT GOING TO CONVINCE EACH OTHER. So why don't you just stop and find something else to talk about. Vegas has so much more to offer than VP, craps, positive or negative EV.

    End of rant

Thanks Vegas_lover. Now what would you like to discuss?

  3. #3
As I have said before: Las Vegas construction development, deals, restaurants, clubs, comp offers, night clubs, trip reports, tournament invites, shows, players club benifits, etc. Nobody interested in those subjects?

  4. #4
Vegas_lover: All those subjects are interesting when the time is right for them, but since I only go to Vegas once every year or two it isn't a consistently relevant topic to me.

  5. #5
Vegas_lover, those topics are also of interest to me. Please post.

So since this topic was posted only 2 of the active posters responded. One basically saying he was only interested in talking about vp and the other (the webmaster) saying he had the same interests as the OP. But the webmaster's too involved in all the crap and namecalling so he's depending on the other contributors to bring diversity to his forum. But most of these other posters are just as involved in all the crap, bickering and namecalling that goes on around here. So people who are looking for a wide variety of Vegas related topics to discuss are completely on their own. Whatever they post, they'll be lucky to get one or two replies if they get any at all.

I came to one conclusion after giving this forum a second chance: complete loss of time and effort.

Alan'I wish you good luck in all your future endeavors.

Argh! That is not what I said. I simply said there isn't much point for me to personally pay lots of attention to Las Vegas activities when I am thousands of miles away and I can only visit once in a great while. When I'm ready to take a trip there I do pay more attention to the items you described.

I still go to LV strip clubs at my age, and I even pay for lap dances. It's very stimulating when a 22 year old starts grinding away at someone my age. It's like they don't care about my age, all they want is my di**, er, money.

Vic, you on the same page as me?

I'm not quite sure what you would like me to do with our forum here, Vegas_lover? Do you want me to ban someone or several? Do you want me to start editing posts to remove that which offends you? Or would you like me to create fictitious forum members and start posting make-believe discussions to generate interest in make believe topics?

Well, I'm not going to do any of those. The forum is here, you and everyone else are welcome to use it. Sure, we've had a few lapses in civility, but we'll get over it.

And if you want something different to talk about consider this: http://vegascasinotalk.com/forum/showth...ht-now-on-Mars... It's a thread on the "Open Forum" that I started that if there really were Martians what would they be doing now that the Rover is on their planet?

    Vegas Lover,

Sorry, bud, I am prepping for football and have been out of touch. I just spent two of the last four weeks in LV on separate trips.

The first trip was to attend The Amazing Meeting, a skeptics' conference at SouthPoint. Great conference -- lots of great lectures. I made the error of not staying at South Point and driving each day from the airport Hampton Inn, mainly because it was half the price. If anyone has any questions, check out The Amazing Meeting website and ask away.

My second trip was to check further football odds and hang out with a sociologist friend who was going to Las Vegas for the first time. Went to KA, which was fabulous.

See -- we have fun stuff to discuss....

Does this mean Alan might want to put up a consumer thread on where to find the best lap dances?

I might be able to help.(grin)

If you're referring to me, then the answer is NO. Strip clubs are a bigger waste of your money than playing 6/5 JOB blindfolded.

The last LV strip club I went to (with friends), I tipped all the women $5 to stay away from me. It's pretty funny --- you buy a $10 beer and have to tip people $50 so you can drink it.

Usually I'm pretty skeptical of people who claim to be skeptical. Very often it's a cloak to hide another agenda. Hope that isn't the case at your meetings.

  16. #16
Well, there seemed to be three main thrusts:

    1) Anti-religiosity of sorts that casts a skeptical eye on religion and religious claims.
    2) Science education.
    3) Debunking paranormal claims.

I'm not aware of other agendas. Some relatively famous educators and scientists were in attendance. Richard Dawkins was there last year.

Remember this one? Nothing has changed. Reader be aware: THIS FORUM IS NOT WORTH YOUR TIME OR EFFORT. Webmaster is to hung up on discussing Singer's "strategy" and Singer's "strategy" alone

Maybe I should check back here in about a year. I'll make you a bet: nothing has changed by then and you'll still be very much involved in the same Singer BS. And it will still involve 95% of the posting going on around here. What would you like for dinner in Vegas, maybe we can make a bet?

Don't forget the anti-Singer claims or is that in number 3.

Oh vegaslover that's so not impressive. You won't leave because you can't, just like arc said goodbye done and couldn't stand it for long. In fact if Singer left for good and started posting on the Lamps 'R" Us forum site, you'd be right over and as soon as arc got wind of his being there he'd rush over too complete with his sad stories. Me, I'm hoping (and I've talked to him about this) that since he's moving to an RV park nearer Tahoe an Reno, he'll get back into predicting winners in the NFL like he did in the past and like he did with that tremendous callout I read right here last year. I wouldn't mind pinning a few bucks onto what he says this time around if he'll only say it.
