Thread: Shake and Bake in Southern California

  1. #1
For decades residents of Southern California have made the connection between heat waves and earthquakes. Shake and Bake is the term that's used. Of course, the experts say there is no connection between hot weather and earthquakes. Yet, they seem to go together, don't they?

Actually, there was a 5.0 magnitude earthquake in Oklahoma last year and it was blamed on 'fracking', which is pressurized water used in horizontal drilling for oil and natural gas. We've probably passed Hubbert's Peak in oil production, so I would expect more fracking-related earthquakes in the future as more and more difficult areas are exploited for energy resources.
