Thread: Pechanga's Bad Beat Poker Jackpot reaches a new high amount

  1. #1
Pechanga Cashino in Temecula sent me this press release:

Beaten quads will trigger SoCal’s largest poker jackpot

The last threshold has been met at the Pechanga Poker Room, and now any hand in a live Hold ‘em game that beats quads will share a historic windfall that is nearing $235,000. That makes it, by far and away, the largest poker jackpot anywhere in Southern California and the only jackpot that is shared with every player in the room.

All it takes is to be playing in a live Hold ‘em game when the jackpot is triggered to share 20% of the haul. Since it is a Bad Beat Jackpot, the player with the losing quads gets 30%, while the holder of the winning hand gets 20%. The rest of the table then shares the remaining 30%.

That means if the Bad Beat Jackpot struck tomorrow, the crushing disappointment of losing a hand while holding a four-of-a-kind, would suddenly turn to an overwhelming joy at taking home about $70,000. The $235,000 jackpot is the largest ever at the Pechanga Poker Room.

The qualifying rules for the jackpot stipulate that both the winning and the losing hands must play their two hole cards, with the board playing first. After striking, the threshold will be reset and it will begin once again at beating four jacks or better, until each threshold is met to lower the qualifying hand. The current ‘quads over quads or better’ threshold is as low as it goes.

30%+20%+30% equals ...? What happened to the other 20%?

30% goes to the player with the losing hand.
20% goes to the player with the winning hand.
30% is shared by the other players at the table.
20% is divided among all of the other players playing in Pechanga's poker room.

It is this "room share" that makes the "jackpot pool" so attractive. Normally you have to be at the "jackpot table" to get a player share, but at Pechanga just playing anywhere in the poker room gets you a mini payday.

In a typical jackpot payout, 40% goes to the losing player, 20% goes to the winning player, and 40% is divided among the other players at the table.
