Thread: Casino Hold %

Every month the New Jersey Gaming Commission publishes charts for individual casino holds for all games. I couldn't find Nevada broken down this far. No distinction between vp and slots. Anyhow it is remarkable how consistent these holds are from casino to casino month after month. From pennies up to hundred dollar. I just don't accept that the formidable vp machines, mixed in these numbers could be that consistent without some type of programming. With highly negative games of vp in most casinos and novice players you would expect the casino hold to be much higher.

    Check out July 2012 /Resorts Casino/ $100 slot hold.

If they are like most casinos I've visited the VP is swamped by the regular slots.

Are you talking about the actual hold or the hold based on how the machines are programmed?

The theoretical hold is one thing but if players hit too many jackpots or too few the theoretical or programmed hold means nothing.

When Harrah's Rincon downgraded its pay tables a few months back it had negative expectation machines. But too many $400K royals were hit on 9/6 JOB and the casino actually lost money for the quarter on its VP. Yes the casino lost on negative expectation games. So now there is only 8/5 Jacks there.

I replied using my phone and could not access the website via the link. Hence, my question.

Now that I am using a real computer, what I saw is that the casino in question had a big loss which could have been a couple of big jackpots. Again, this is what happened to Rincon. A couple of royals on the $100/coin video poker games were hit and sent the monthly figures into the tank for the casino.

Let's face it. There probably aren't many $100/coin VP players so just one royal can do serious harm to the casino's bottom line on this denomination. And the same is true for slots.

Just compare the total handle for the game and the net loss. It is easy to see that just one or two big wins can deliver the casino a 22% loss on the denomination.

Do you think he'll readily apologize?
