Thread: Comp formulas: slot vs VP players

  1. #1
I have a good friend who is a host at a big casino in LV. I don't play at his property, by the way. Earlier tonight he called to say hello and we were discussing "business" and I asked him if his casino's comp policies are changing.

They are always changing, he told me, and getting tighter for VP players, but they are not tightening as much for slot players.

The reason is that slot players play faster, put more coin through in less time, and obviously don't win as much as VP players.

Then he gave me this gem of information that I never heard before:

Given the same dollar coin through, a slot player will get 3X as many comps as a video poker player.

He also told me that comps, especially free play comps, are now about half of what they were two years ago.

I'm not 100% on the numbers, but on VPFREE there's always lots of info about Boyd having 7x for videopoker and 11x for slots on many days. The same with other casino chains in one way or another, but the point is you don't see a lot of slot points being 3 times what videopoker earns. Does this help?
