As expected, the XTrain postpones the start of service again.

I expected this to happen, and it did. In a new report by Standard & Poors which the Las Vegas Railway Express distributed today, it says that service between Fullerton (in Southern California) and Las Vegas will not start until late 2013.

I expected another delay in the start date because LVRE announced last week that construction on its station in Vegas behind The Plaza Hotel would not start till next year, and permits would not be in place before the end of the year.

And LVRE (stock symbol XTRN) also announced that it still doesn't have all the rail cars it needs and refurbishing of the rail cars hasn't started yet.

Here is part of the S&P report with the key phrase that the start up won't happen till late next year:

Currently, the company plans for the X Train to begin operating in late 2013 with two scheduled roundtrips a week but will have the ability to add cars and trains as demand increases. The trip between Fullerton, CA and Las Vegas, NV is
approximately 300 miles long with an estimated travel time of five hours and Las
Vegas Railway estimates each train will be able to seat nearly 1,200 passengers a
day. Initial ticket prices are planned to be $99 a day, which will include meal,
beverages, the use of a flat screen TV with a wide selection of channels, and WiFi
Internet access.

Actually starting in late 2013 is OK even though it will miss the big summer tourist season between Nevada and So Cal amusement parks and beaches. Even if the XTRN starts up in October they will be able to operate for the bulk of the convention business plus the big New Year's holiday travel.
