I took away this as the key point in the article:

I no longer sell play to my players. The tables are turned. Players now sell their play to me, and I end up buying it with ever increasing amounts of comps, free play and amenities. I am no longer able to deal in relationships, player knowledge, personalities, and, yes, loyalty. Now it is all about the price. What will you give me to come? What can I get? What will you offer me over and above what's tendered at the joint across the street?

It is a very competitive business -- not only in Vegas but for the other casinos all around the country. Even in the oligopoly that is the Vegas Strip you can still work Caesars against MGM and against Wynn and Las Vegas Sands. Go off strip and you add in Stations and Palms and some others.

Let THEM compete for OUR dollars now. The chokehold has been broken.

    Thanks for posting.

Doesn't this go against all that we've been seeing posted about the tightening up in the comps area by the casinos? You can't go two days on most forums without seeing someone cry about it. Myself, I have never noticed any change, but I'm not that regular a player.
