MR V, you are the same. The motto where you grew up is "talk shit, get hit"

Knowing that, you ran to the wimp coast ASAP.

I moved to the Left Coast after being fortunate enough to have the time and money to spend months traveling this fair land, trying to find "my place."

I thought it was Boulder, or Albuquerque, but a girl I was introduced told me all about Oregon when we were camping on a river north of Taos; she extolled the wonders of Eugene, Oregon in particular, and it sounded great: I looked into it and voila, made my move.

    No regrets.

Now instead of the NJ life style you embrace in Edison, or Elizabeth, or whatever shit hole you crawl into ("Talk shit, get hit") I enjoy "Good shit, take a hit."

    Again, no regrets.
    What, Me Worry?

There is now a program in place to where you can snitch on anyone who has either expired tags or no license plate. You can make these tips anonymously.

On October 21, the DMV reported that they had received 5000+ tips in less than 2 weeks of the program.

Now they're bragging that the snitching is continuing at that same rate, with 5000 more tips coming in during the next 2 weeks.

    Can you believe this shit?

Imagine being a snitch so the government can collect fees. Dumb.

    I've heard the counter arguments:

"I have to pay fees, so should they!"

"These people are a menace and usually drive without insurance!"

"These people not paying causes may rates to go up!"

To all of this I say........BULLSHIT!

Driving with expired tags, or no insurance, is a risk. If you get caught doing so, you have to pay a stiff penalty, and may even get your car impounded. If that happens, tough titties, and I have no sympathy for these people. That's the chance they take by not following the clear and obvious regulations.

However, this a matter between you and the state government, NOT private citizens. The government should not be creating a "report someone didn't pay their fees" program so people can weaponize it against their enemies, which you know is going to happen.

Those who try to avoid these fees eventually get caught, and they eventually suffer the consequences. Let the process be handled by law enforcement and the DMV.

Furthermore, they do not cause registration rates to go up. Rates are not set based upon the total number of vehicles which register. Do you think they're going to lower registration fees thanks to this program? Fat chance.

What about insurance? Will this get uninsured drivers off the road? No, because these violations go against the VEHICLE, not the driver or owner. These people aren't going to quit driving because someone snitched on them about registration fees. They'll round up the money for the penalty, get the car back (if worth it -- otherwise they'll just buy another beater), and be right back on the road.

In general, I do not like government snitch programs regarding fees or taxes.
I'm with you more or less but it is worse in some MAGA states. For example - https://www.npr.org/2022/07/11/11077...ion-bounty-law
Your "snitch" program isn't much more than a hotline. There isn't much new outside of a streamlined way to complain about someone breaking the law. It isn't' incentivizing directly.

That law in TX is completely bonkers - especially given their claim of wanting a "small government". 10x worse. (hi Kewl) I wonder if it has been used successfully yet or will be appealed in some manner. Mdawg, you reading this? Can you give us some of your expertise?

But hey, I bet a lot of those TX types who support this also complain about CA for all sorts of reasons they were told to complain about.

People driving without plates isn't acceptable. Like ... at some points people are in a tough spot and don't have the resources but being able to drive around anonymously and such isn't compatible with having safe highways and societies.
What are the odds you believed that dork Governor in Minnesota was doing the right thing when he told residents to snitch of neighbors who didn't wear those foolish masks during covid?

What are the odds I pay attention to a governor from a minor state? I have 0 clue what you are referencing.

That is because I make my own opinions and don't have them fed to me by some grifter media you old fool.

    What a crazy question to ask on ... <checks notes> a gambling forum .
You're entire worth is predicated on a soulless participation in a solved game, without an opponent.

Message boards often benefit from having a poster serve as a foil; that's Coach: a foil.

    Now you are being noisy.

You must have spent some time searching through my posting history, you're quite the dickrider.

So what's the issue with my answer?

I was pretty accommodating, more than most around here would ever be.

But hey, a full and rich fantasy life such as you seem to have ain't a bad thing.

Kevin Love is from Lake Oswego. And just saying, maybe Albuquerque was your spot. Every advertisement there is an attorney offering to help with citizenship or a DUI. Or a dispensary.
