I've probably recommended this movie already or talked about it a few times on this site.
This movie is a hidden gem IMO.
It has too many parallels to my own life to list and my father looked a little like Nick Nolte.
So it always hits me kind of hard.
I grew up watching North Dallas Forty, Teachers, 48 Hours and many other Nick Nolte movies.
He had a 2002 movie that was decent enough called The Good Thief.
Another hidden gem of his is Off the Black (2006).
The back and forth at the end is some really good acting IMO.
Not sure how they got some of those perfect shots of roads and the skies but damn this movie is a treat.
Very Epic and along the same lines as Mask or the Elephant Man showing a Good Person on the Inside but not so good looking on the outside.
I couldn't locate a free version but perhaps tableplay can track it down.
Curious if you seen this one TP?
Interesting Note that the main character wasn't Vietnamese.
I watched the behind the scenes before and iirc he was from California and a Surfer.
Cancel Culture going to go insane!
That segue from leaving the ship with little food to throwing 5 pounds of food away in America is very realistic.
This movie has many nuances like that.
*** Not sure how they got Nolte and Tim Roth to do this movie but I'm glad they did! ***
The Beautiful Country (2004)
