I gotta give my better half and her competitors in LineMasters a shout-out.
She led for the majority of the competition thus far, but not the last two weeks. The top three are killing it, and there are only about 50 people in the private contest.
So after yesterday, she is 41-19 ATS, which is 68.3%. And in terms of units, which is how LineMasters is graded, she is 144-56, which is 68.5%. And she may or may not be leading come Tuesday! For those who have actually competed in these kinds of things, that is unbelievable. The top three have been steamrolling.
They won't be able to maintain this pace, as the final week will be all NFL, so six games and 21 units must be assigned from one week of the NFL schedule, but I salute them. I have never seen a small private competition with these records at this stage of the year. The closest I've ever seen was about 12 years ago. I went 66-34 in a competition sponsored by a monitor associated with Playbook. It was invitation-only, and there were fewer than 40 people in it. That 66-34 ATS did not win! Frankly, it wasn't really that close to winning. A guy playing mainly Mountain West and WAC college totals annihilated the line -- beat me by about three games, which is fantastic. That was the year I won 17 consecutive ATS games, which I discovered is as rare in actuarial tables as "Death by Reptile." But not good enough. The scary thing was that without those 17 in a row, I was 49-34, which is a fine record to be proud of. I won 17 in a row on top of it, and in a field of 40-some I did not win, or even really come close to winning.
