I get that this is a unique situation but allowing anyone who still has a job and says they feel concerned about safety to quit voluntarily and collect is ripe for unintended consequences dwarfing any possible benefit, especially since a good chunk of blue collar and retail people can make more money not being employed than being employed with the supplement. Should any nurse or doctor who wants to be able to quit voluntarily and collect unemployment until this is over when they’re in more demand than ever?
Believe me a doctor or nurse makes much more working than on unemployment. Most states say if you quit you get nothing. Besides this is only for something like 6 weeks. What are you going to do then?
Unemployment is for six months. And there can be extensions. When Bill Clinton first took office they passed two extensions so some people drew unemployment for a year and a half.
