Your Casino After Covid-19 Predictions? :)

I predict that there will be BIG Crowds the very first few days of reopening. I predict that there will be LOTS of Free Play, Comps, Promos, buffets, hotel room promos, Comps, food comps, etc, to make up for the "Drought," upon reopening.

I predict that there may LOTS of people who will say stuff like,"The Casino "Drought," showed me how frivolous I was being with my Finances in the Casino and I actually put that money during the "Drought," in Savings and or did a lot of good things with my money after not being able to blow it in Casinos, so I am still going on a self inflicted Drought from the Casino for now. "

I predict that LOTS of people will still be wary of going into the Casino due to the Covid-19 showing them just how filthy machines, chips, table games, etc really can be. As to the last prediction, I predict that Casinos will put up hand sanitizers/hand wipes at the end of every row or something like that where Gamblers can wipe hands and equipment(This is actually a REALLY brilliant idea that should have been done long before the Covid-19 thing). I predict that Casinos will loosen up Slots to ensure that Gamblers keep playing.

Here in Las Vegas there is really two different casino models. There is the strip and downtown tourist areas and there are the local type casinos spread all over the city. I think if and when this crisis end, which isn't going to be until sometime in May at the earliest (think Memorial day), the strip will bounce back pretty quickly. The younger crowd thinks this isn't their crisis and disease anyway and will quickly return. Low airfares as the air travel industry rebounds, plus low fuel costs, will only help that.

But the local casinos won't bounce back so quick. To begin will, because this virus disproportionately takes older people, the very people who frequent the local casinos, we'll call them "greys" , and some of them will have been permanently "lost". Others will still be concerned about their health and well being and this crisis will only serve to remind them how dangerous the casino environment is in regards to germs and viruses, even under normal times. The rebound for the locals type casinos will be much slower.

Look, I am a younger guy and I am so far away, a million miles away from being mentally ready to visit any casino. My life of just a couple weeks ago, spending time everyday, eating meals everyday in a casino seems like years ago, not weeks. I am just so detached from that right now.

One bright lining, if the local type casinos don't bounce back quickly as I suspect might be the case, the several year trend of tightening offer, may be very temporarily reversed as they attempt to lure former "regulars" back. Just a thought, but we'll see.

I also think they will be some permanent changes. In other threads there has already been mention of several casinos that don't intend to reopen buffets. You might see more of that. I also think there will be some quickening of a movement I believe was already coming to move away from the table games as we know them (with chips), and to some sort of TITO type replacement. Things like the video blackjack stations, and hybrids like stadium blackjack that uses a live dealer, but a TITO money system. Such a quickened movement to these things would be very bad for me, as a professional blackjack player type AP. It might have been coming anyway, but I really think this crisis may quicken it.

I wonder if Casinos will resume free play after the Casinos reopen. For example, I get $20 in free play a week at Gulfstream and $17 at Hialeah, plus about $15 in "Play for free play,"So $37(or $52 with the "Earn your free play," thing) a week which really isn't too shabby. But on Thursdays at Gulfstream is more of a "You played hard, you get rewarded," but since I couldn't gamble at Gulfstream due to it being closed for about three weeks so far, I wonder if I still get the "You played hard reward." I DID however earn an impressive 127 points in just one day(This is the equivalent of playing $635 in coin in, a far cry from when I was playing literal pennies) days before I even knew they were going to be closed. I had about 200 points and cashed them in a few days later, in fact the last day they were open, so I only have like 2 points left at Gulfstream. If they go by the 127 point day I might still get my Thursday free play. Player's Club had said that using your points dies not effect free play.

At Hialeah, I have about 400 points($2,000 coin in) so I have no doubt in my mind that my Hialeah free play SHOULD remain since I have so many points. But what I am concerned about is that Player's Club said that they give out free play based on activity on a 2 month timeline. So if Hialeah opens back up say June 19, three months after their March 19th shutdown, technically we haven't played in three months so that could erase everybody's free play due to nobody playing in three months. Hopefully Player's Club would make a huge exception and extend the 2 month thing to 3 or 4 months due to the unforeseen consequences of the Covid-19 Casino shutdowns.
