Apparently they really are voiding comped rooms because of perceived insufficient play.

They're also kicking out popular Vegas bloggers.

They likely couldn't delay opening any further because I'm guessing they have a contract with Mohegan Sun to open up ASAP.

The comp-voiding situation is awful. That's a disaster. This is totally non-standard for Vegas, and it's going to drive people away quickly. This basically makes comps useless, as you have to earn your free stay on your CURRENT trip!

When I had heard Virgin was taking over Hard Rock and rebranding, I pictured that it was going to be classy and customer-friendly. They've become the opposite, and that's a huge problem. As the video said, the property has enough negatives (expensive, off-strip, bad area) and few positives (no popular US brand or interesting theme), to where their only chance of survival is good word-of-mouth and great customer service.

I think the partnership with Mohegan is a disaster, because Indian casinos are notoriously penny-pinching and customer-unfriendly, and that's the last culture Virgin should want to see there.

This is going to fail.
